IMO it is more in the lines of when the person no longer identifies inside with the need to be a slave.

I see "submissive" as an orientation that you're born with (or whatever, that's a different discussion), and "slave" as a role that you occupy when someone else owns you. Same goes for "dom" and "master": you can be born a dom, but I don't see how you can be a master unless you own a slave.

When is a slave no longer a slave?

i have no idea, since i have never known anyone who was a slave and then stopped being a slave.

i can't even imagine no longer being a slave. i have, at times, been a "free slave", when i was between Masters but, i was still a slave. i was unowned and i wasn't anyone's property, while i was a free slave but, i was still a slave. i would have to stop being me, to no longer be a slave.

Being a slave isn't something i do. It's who i am. i would have to stop living, to no longer be a slave.

i'm honestly baffled by the whole idea of no longer being a slave. i think it would be interesting to hear from any former slaves who no longer consider themself as such and why that is. As for me, i don't have any answer to this question.
