tenderfootmaster -> My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/14/2007 8:26:06 PM)

Slowly, but surely my BDSM gear variety is growing, along with lifestyle literature. Everything that I have order in the past two weeks I have received. I have now in my possession a blindfold, flogger, ball gag, handcuffs (police grade), vibrator, 5 piece hogtie harness, and collar.
The books I ordered (“SM 101” and “The Loving Dominant”) and can’t wait to find out what I learn!
What other items do you believe that I should have or look into getting to add even more variety?

Rope, there are plenty of sources for good quality rope, including your local home supply or hardware store. Also, take the time to research and supply an emergency kit. I'm sure a search of the forums here should render a more complete and comprehensive list than I can provide before my browser crashes again.

Well I also have rope, saran wrap, and duct tape. I don’t mention those as toys because the are really just everyday household items, (also I got yelled at for posting those… )
Thank you for the suggestion!

Something that always come in handy is a selection of chains and dog clips. They are quicker to use than rope and more easily adjusted. Choke chains from the pet store are a good start, as they have rings on them and come in assorted short lengths. A lead is another good addition to the toy box.

While on the subject of first aid, you need a pair of blunt ended scissors for removing tapes and wrap in a hurry, and something to cut rope in an emergency if you need to. If you are going to do rope work, familiarise yourself with the potential hazards. I have recently posted an article on the subject on my journal on my profile. You might find it helpful. Have fun!

I have a couple knives that I have placed close just in case I need to get rope or wrapping off in a hurry. Although a first aid kit I am really willing to look into, I don’t want anything to happen (bad anyways).
Thanks

Rabbit fur pelt for sensation play...as well as feathers, silk and satin scarves
BBQ skewers....use either one or a bundle
Strechy terry cloth wrist bands to use under those handcuffs to lessen the chance of injury
Rubber bands for their "snappiness"
Take trips to your local hardware and kitchen supply stores. The Dollar Store is a great place to find various clamps.   It's fun to find something ordinary that can be pervertable for your toybox.

Take LadyHeart's advice and get those blunt ended scissors.  If you need to cut off wrapping in a hurry, you wouldn't want to accidentally cut someone and have to explain what happened to the ER doctor who does the stitching.

Get some safety shears/garden secateurs for real emergencies.

Unlike knives which require planning, skill and a steady target, you can just shove shears between too tight rope and thrashing skin, without risking additional injury.

More importantly than flavours of tools, is getting your head into the right space to react to emergencies. Assume your IQ will halve, assume you'll fumble, assume the sub will thrash, assume something else will be going wrong. Reserve some brain cells so your erection doesn't take it all.

It's Murphies law, if you have your shit together, problems are trivial.

i suggest a leather locking cuff set as opposed to metal...leather is far more comfortable for long term use

Lashra -> RE: My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/15/2007 5:11:04 AM)

Here are a few items that I have that are a lot of fun:
Wartenburg wheel, clothespins, Under the bed restraint system (for use in hotels), white unscented candles and an old shower curtain for waxplay, The TriGasm Vibrator (this thing is WONDERFUL!), different size buttplugs and lube.

Sounds like you have a good start on your toy bag [:)]

Heat rub.  Ginger.  Riding crop.  Blindfolds and ear plugs.  Ice cubes.  Feather duster.

Agreed, handcuffs were designed for a specific purpose, and have some drawbacks as over all restraints... get a good (i.e. not the decorative one from the local adult store)  set of leather cuffs for wrists and ankles.

See that’s what I thought the 5 piece hog tie gear was, until I opened it up and it was just Velcro…

Phin -> RE: My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/16/2007 4:20:21 PM)

a guthook works good on removing the plastic wrap in a hurry.

other good items that I have in mine, old style cutting board for a paddle, carwash mit, hair brush, set of wooden spoons Home (Dom) Depot carries miniature C clamps for about $1.50 each that are fun for nipple clamps

tenderfootmaster -> RE: My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/16/2007 4:26:48 PM)

My girl hates the idea of nipple clamps all around. I might have to suprise her someday!

BearAsSpanker -> RE: My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/16/2007 8:31:39 PM)

My box always has my favorite leather paddle.  And recently at the market.  I picked up a pie shovel that has other purposes.  It's a wooden paddle with a leather hanging cord and everything. You know, the buyer at that store thinks like me.  Good luck and have fun.

TANKS

Trampler -> RE: My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/17/2007 6:26:47 AM)

Why would someone tell you not to mention saran wrap, duct tape and rope?  Those are just as important to the toybox as any other.

tenderfootmaster -> RE: My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/17/2007 8:55:46 AM)

Some people must have different ideas about toys and what shouls and should not be mentioned...

HypnoticDan -> RE: My Toy Chest is Growing! (6/17/2007 10:34:31 AM)

Go for the EMT scissors instead of a knife. There's less chance of slippage and your play partner in distress won't have to deal with the threatening idea of "i've been bound in a bad way and when I say the safeword he picks up a blade."
