Do you think that the drunk guys abused those two girls when they got home? At least angelic made sure they all got home safely...It really was kind of a sweet gesture when you think about it.

The realm of "this is for your own good" is a sticky one, especially when it crosses the line of a person's willingness to change and the activity is a consensual one. When the person is obviously damaging themselves it makes that line a little easier to cross. However, that line isn't very obvious in this lifestyle. We do need to strive to be tolerant, but we need to strive to be safe as well. There really aren't any right answers. We just have to give it a good dose of thought and do what we feel is best in any given situation. It's all we can do.

i gave an example as everyone seemed to be demanding one to explain more clearly what the op meant in her first post. i didn't mean for it to become a debate on morals/ethics/ etc about that particular example i gave. A lot of assumptions were made about what i said. i never said i saw them withness scening, they witnessed seeing impact toys and conversation regarding what their parents did. Their parents talked about them being exposed to everything, they were sitting right there when these things were said. This happened 10 years ago, i chose to leave, if it happened tomorrow i would probably handle it quite differently. Also, i wasn't comparing that incident to rape. i was responding to what dark said she basically stated something to the effect everyone should live life the way they feel like. The rape example was in reference to that, to give an example of how we cannot simply live life the way we want, there are boundaries and constraints all around us so we all can live relatively safely. If consent is a huge concern in wiitwd i would ask the question - if these um's were not of the age of consent, and if they and their parents were telling the truth, were the parents consenting for them? If it's acceptable for them to witness events as long as their parents say it's ok why don't fetish clubs have family night, maybe they could even hand out flyers or play computer games in the corner of the club? Heck maybe if they are at least 12 they could set up a movie night and they can watch Secretary? How cool would that be!

The only reason people are making such 'assumptions' is because of the way you portrayed it. A picnic is totally different to a barbeque - really velvet - and places a hugely different scenario. I am not saying you meant to portray it that way, but at least accept that is how some read your words... just as I have to accept that I am 'condecending' to some people. It's not your responsibility how we read your words, but accepting that is how it reads to others is part and parcel of thread writing. I also understand that your rape comment was made in relation to my comment. However you took that comment out of context again, because I wasn't speaking of rape, or any other action. I was speaking specifically of 'cheating' - a question you asked me and I respected by answering. I didn't expect you to take my words and turn them into an answer for something else. Ask me the question again and insert the word 'rape' and I will answer you on that if you wish. You were the only one to mention it and after that i cleared it up by admitting i should have used the word bbq rather than picnic. Either bbq or picnic can be in a public place, so i don't see this as the big misleading error that you are making it out to be. i never alluded in my op that any of this was done in a public venue. At any rate you always seem to make grand sweeping statements and when anyone gives a specific example to challenge it you always have the out to say - oh but thats not what i was talking about, you have it all wrong. At any rate this whole nit picking is just getting the whole original op way off track..... why not try to use my original example given (with all it's alleged flaws) as it was intended instead of picking apart every aspect of it... that to me would seem more beneficial at least to the thread angelic started.

Velvet - there isn't any nit picking - just discussion. If someone says picnic to me - that makes me think public(as I explained to you - changes scenario in my mind). I don't have picnics of mass peoples in my back garden, I have lunchs, or barbeques, or gatherings.... whatever. Barbeque indicates to me that it could be a private event. (Also bear in mind that this isn't just a US board - in the UK we just don't 'do' public barbies - apart from the fact its illegal here in alot of places - same as I was trying to work out what your 'difference' is). What other people thought it meant isnt what I said, I simply told you that I thought it was misleading to me. And if you did get what I said wrong, yeah I will tell you. Thats how you get to know people. Like you telling me it was a bbq and not a picnic. You are explaining so I/we can gain the best idea and perspective. Whats the difference in you doing it to me, by taking my words and putting it on a different scenario(rape vs. cheating)? I am not the only person who read your words and took it in a way you 'didn't mean'. But shit happens - it happens to me too on other threads. It happens all over the board. Just chill and don't take it on such a personal level. Some people just asked you why and where you drew the line (which is and was in line with the OP) - no ones attacking but asking. If you don't want to respond, don't - but blaming someone else (ie me) for asking upfront questions on something you wrote incoherently is just trashy.
