Status: offline 		Well I don't use the term "power exchange" I use the term "authority transfer" but yes I completely believe it's possible to transfer all ultimate authority to another.

Even more, the relationship can look like any vanilla relationship to an outsider.

Status: offline 		I suppose it's possible. I like LA term "authority transfer" and feel that is what my Sir and I do most of the time. There are areas of my life, like the unmentionable, my faith, and my career, where I retain my authority. He pretty much controls everything else.

Status: offline 		My general belief is that anything the mind can conceive is possible...but I think that very few Tops (however they identify) are actually worthy of and can handle this level of authority. Also depends on how "absolute" is defined.

APE and TPE are illusions, symbols (in the western, civilized world.)  Yet, if I draw a picture of a tiger pit in the middle of my living room, it's a good bet people will walk around it (if only because it's funny.)  That illusion changes their behaviour, ensuring they walk where I have directed them.  Illusions are real; treating the illusion as reality (that the slave has no rights, that the owner has total power) lends itself towards a reality where people behave 'as if' it were real.  I could write a sign that says "electric fence" on my non-electric fence, and it's a good bet people would be much more careful of it.

Status: offline 		It certainly is possible.  In fact, I think it's perhaps a bit easier than a negotiated partial power exchange, as there's no danger that the "exceptions" aren't understood in the same way by both parties.  Obviously, if your Master tells you to jump off a bridge (to use everyone's favorite childhood example), you wouldn't do it, but hopefully you wouldn't be in that kind of relationship with someone likely to do such a thing.  And if you suspect that you are in such a relationship, it's time to get the hell out!

For all practical purposes, no.

For impractical purposes, yes, but the survivor normally does heavy prison time for homicide.

For fantasy purposes ... well ... once you move into shared fantasy words sort of lose their general meeting and take on a private one. Two people can share a Coke (two straws) down at the Old Malt Shoppe and call that Absolute Power Exchange. That's not I mean by the term; it may not be what you mean by it. But it is what the two of them mean and they'll swear that APE is possible because they do it.
