I had 2 Main Coon sisters that I rescued as babies. The 'alpha' female was very kind, smart, and even thoughtful. She would notice the other cat or dog needed something in the house, and come get me to 'tell me'. I would follow her and she would sit down at the food bowl, water bowl, or the door, and wait for me to handle it. Then she would sit happily and watch the other animals get what they needed. One of the saddest days of my life was putting her down when she was 13. Gorgeous, smart, and a heart of gold.

Continuing the hijack -- I'd love to have a Maine Coon cat.  I have eight lovely kitties as it is, and they are all very intelligent.  There is a tomcat stray in the neighbourhood who knows I have a weak spot for kitties -- he'll bring his friends to my deck, meow loudly enough to get my attention, and then step back and wait while I take care of feeding or doctoring the little friends he brings by. It's as if he tells them not to worry, that I'm safe, because they all come closer than they would if they were alone.

Sub males are not limited to one of these two stereotypes.  Sorry.

Each individual personality of different submissives have a special place in my heart.

And not one of them was a daschund, which, by the way, can be a fearless little dog full of moxy.

Neither was any sub a German Shepherd with a loud bark at the thunder.  German Shepherds, like any other breed, can be so timid they are fear biters.  Happily I've never had a sub that timid, either.

So the answer to your preposterous post is that each male sub I select I select for a reason, a facet of their gleaming personality in some way either compliments or contrasts something in Myself.

Not all submissives have to be burly manthings, there's always a place for the more genteel, mild mannered sub who can fulfill more esoteric needs.  I happen to appreciate both ends of the spectrum, as well as the many, many variations in between.

Guard dogs all the way.  I've trained Belgian Malinois and GSDs for police work, and far prefer them over little kick-me dogs.  I'm the same way with my men.

After reading the rest of the thread, I'm now curious as to why a male dom would even post such a stereotypical thing about male subs on this board.  I mistakenly thought for a moment that this fellow was submissive and trying to make a point, but here, it's just someone here trying to mince words.  Grrrr.

I've had whippets and greys for years. The sleek athleticism, the elegance and pride of stance, the intellect as well as the unconditional love, devotion and loyalty. Ah, all the attributes I seek in a beloved pet.

Not a mistress' answer, but oddly enough, I strongly prefer the dashund type as my Dom. Or, well...I dunno, I'm rather fond of collies...and labs are beautiful....

But I digress. There is a hole in some Mistress' wall for every lost puppy out there.

Hi There; are you aware, the Dashund, you're talking the short legged weiner dog right; were bred to hunt those nasty rodent type critters that burrow themselve into the ground, with there tunnels, no not a golfer, but those nasty little rodent looking critters. The weiner dog could be a ferious fighter, and in that tunnel, it would do battle and kill it's prey, and drag that nasty mean wolverine type critter from it's tunnel.

If you want a real nazi type killer dog......then the Rotweiller is without peer.  Are you aware, Pope Benidictum, was known as 'God's Rotweiller'.

Don't know much about dogs I see.

My friend raises dobermans and has a house dachshund.

The dachshund OWNS the kitchen. Dobermans are not allowed in there under penalty of the fang. They run for their lives if they're caught putting so much as a paw in the kitchen.

I've seen a doberman leap straight up in the air from having having four paws flat on the floor and land on the counter to get away from the onslaught of teeth and snarls. It reminds me of the National Geographic special where the seal jumps in the boat to get away from the orca.

It's hard to escape something which can attack you from beneath at all the soft tender spots.
