Okay, I just saw what Wikipedia had to say about Terry Pratchett and all I can say for the moment is... Hmmmm.....

I might take a chance and order the first discworld book from Amazon.

I have a sticker on the back of my laptop that says, "Snape Is A Very Bad Man," but I'm not necessarily sticking by that. I want him to be a bad guy in that I dislike his character, but I want Dumbledore to still be alive, so it's a tough call. At heart, I think it was a scheme and Dumbledore's not really dead, or that he is, in fact, deceased and he'll become a ghost and live at Hogwarts anyway once evil is vanquished. On the one hand, JK Rowling won't want to terribly piss her readers off by having really killed off Dumbledore, but on the other hand, her books have been getting exponentially darker with each one, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if she killed him off but tossed us a crumb or two in the way of Dumbledore becoming a ghost at the school.

I'm dressing up with a few of my friends and going to the release party. Copious amounts of alcohol will probably ensue after the event.

The first time I read book six I refused to believe that Dumbledore had really died. I thought for sure he had pulled a switcher-roo with his brother or something. Eventually, though, I had to accept the fact that he is dead – for two reasons. First, J.K. said... somewhere... that dead is dead. Secondly, and more importantly, in this kind of fantasy genre the mentor always has to go away because the hero ultimately has to stand alone. Obi-wan died. Dumbledore died. I do believe he will come back in one sense though – his portrait will hang in the Headmaster’s office.

I honestly believe Harry is a Horcux. It'll come down to him and Voldemort, and by that time, Harry'll know he's one (if he is), and he'll have to destroy himself.

Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything. If you want to discuss HP, feel free to message me on the other side. I could talk about it for days.

I don’t want any spoilers right now (and I don’t Yahoo – not in the computer sense anyway) but thanks for the offer. The Harry is a Horcrux theory is fascination but I sincerely hope you are wrong. Harry must live! It will be such a bummer of an ending, otherwise. I do think we will lose one or two other major characters like Lupin or Hagrid or maybe even one of the students.

I’d just like to toss this one out there while I’m at it: does anyone think Percy will come back to the fold, or will his ambitions take him down the dark path?

Welll other than a mass of people and a velvet rope and guest list what more would we need? The room would provide everything. And i just went to look for a site and of course its down which means i will have to hunt down certain stories if they are archived elesewhere.  and i know most slash fans are squicked by MPREG, but damnit if it doesn't make me feel just a bit better readign about men goign through what every female has and will go through possibly. You want one that wll blow you're mind look up brother were art thou ron/draco lucius/whatever the fuck ron's dad's name which escapes me at the moment. Interestign plot twist.

Mpreg leavs room for plenty of twist and turns liek Harry being james and sirius' son and lily just a cover to protect the boy. I say if you are willign to read slah you must open your mind to the possibility of male pregnancy ESPECIALLY in a world of magic :P

I just finished an MPREG. Dumbledore rapes harry, and then harry ends up on Voldemort's side..another Dumbledore is evil fic.

If I was J.K., that alone would be reason enough to let Harry live.

If I say I love you, will you take that offensily?! I have been saying that same thing for months {that Harry is  Horcux}. I explained that stuff to my best friend over dinner tonight {the transfer of power thing} and she said she is going to go home and start reading since I was tormenting her with details. lol

I don't think Harry will have to destroy himself, I think he will kinda absorb He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's powers and stay good.

Snape is a VERY VERY bad man. He has had it out for Harry since the beginning adn he has never truely forgiven James for what happened, and he has transfered that hate and anger to Harry. I kinda hope that Harry will kill Snape and nail Draco to the wall.

As for the Durseys, I think that Aunt Petunia knows MORE than she lets on. She is a smart woman, I almost wonder if she will play a more critical part in the last book, in the Half Blood Prince, she shows a bit of concern for Harry, that showed a LOT about her, she may not have agreed with her sister, but, she still loved her sister.

**Buzz  me on the other side or on YIM under the same name as here if any one wants to talk HP or theories.

WOOOOOO... HOOOOOO...

I FINALLY GOT A PADDLE!

Smiles wickedly, taps the paddle in his hand, and thinks to himself: now, who around her needs a smack upside the head?

I thought the Harry Potter series were children's books. My nieces are really into them, they are 10 and 12.

DON'T!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discworld_reading_order

"Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series contains over 30 novels, but they are not all dedicated to a single story arc, instead they are made up of several story arcs that follow particular characters, locations and situations. The Tiffany Aching story arc, for example, follows the adventures of a young, up-and-coming witch, and first begins with the 30th novel, meaning that you need not have read any of the previous books in order to fully understand the Tiffany Aching story arc."

I recommend the Sam Vimes/ City Watch arc:

* Guards! Guards!
* Men at Arms
* Feet of Clay
* Jingo
* The Fifth Elephant
* Night Watch
* Thud!

Or the Death/Susan Series

* Mort
* Reaper Man
* Soul Music
* Hogfather
* Thief of Time

The Witches Series:

* Equal Rites
* Wyrd Sisters
* Witches Abroad
* Lords and Ladies
* Maskerade
* Carpe Jugulum

I particularly recommend the series: Soul Music/Hogfather/Thief of Time

Yea, I'm not alone.

Ok, she [Aunt Petunia for those just tuning in] KNEW what the demantors were and she showed some degree of 'concern' for Harry at the beginning of book 5 when everyone showed up, then when Dumbledur picked up Harry in book 6, she was surprised, but not as much as I would have expected when they talked about security, etc. I have started looking for signs in the other books, but, 5 & 6 are where you see that 'thing' that she might not be as hell bent on 'normal' or at least against her sister as she seems.

It's just not adding up. I do hope that Dudley gets his in the end, that pig.

Ok.. question to the Potter Heads {giggles}... Since Rowling wrote the LAST chapter of book 7 years ago, do you think that she has CHANGED it, more than subtly since then?

Who is gonna go and SEE "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"??

I read somewhere that J.K. said she wasn't aiming for any particular age group but that the publishers decided to aim the series at early and pre-teens.  Still, you'd be surprised how many adults are fans.  I was in the emergency room two weeks ago and two people - one in her twenties, the other a 40ish man were both reading Harry Potter books.  I think a lot of people are re-reading them right now.  I wonder if book sellers will see a temporary decline in sales?  Anyway, give it a shot.  Pick up book one.  What's the worst that could happen - you won't like it.  But I'm willing to bet you will.  Harry Potter may not rank up there with Shakespeare but it is - quite simply - a good, fun, read.

He'll be to busy stuffing his face in front of the TV (opps, I mean the telly) to get his (I, on the other hand, am more sophisticated - I stuff my face while reading a book).

No offense taken, dearie.

I hope Harry doesn't destroy himself. I have a theory about what'll happen if he really is a horcrux. (message me on the other side to hear it). Like I said I don't want to spoil anything, but everything I think is all theory, and might not even happen.

After I read book 6, I was determined to believe Snape was a bad guy. But I thought about it, and thought about how Dumbledore is, and I refuse to think that Dumbledore, who btw, was the only wizard Voldemort was afraid of, would have been stupid enough to believe Snape was good. I just can't see Snape pulling one over on Dumbledore like that.

I also have a theory about Draco. His situation is, to say the least, not good. Voldemort brought him in to get back a Lucious. When he (Lucious) didn't immediately try and help Voldemort when he lost his powers, Voldemort, who likes to hold grudges, was pissed. I think Voldemort knew Draco wasn't going to be able to go through with the task he was given, and had a good chance of being killed in the process.

But Draco lived. He is, by the way, going to die in book 7. Either by a Death Eater, or Voldemort himself. Draco doesn't realize that he could go to the Order for protection. Because he refuses to 'stoop to that level' or whatever. But Draco will definitely get his.

Petunia knows way more than she lets on. How much? I have no idea. I kind of hope she steps up in book 7 too. That'd be interesting to see.
