I'm a comedian but only intelligent people understand my sense of humor.

Good thing somebody does.

I had the opportunity to start my own business a few times, but I did not want to be a slave to my career.  I wanted the ability to set my own hours and do what I want and still make a lot of money.

Hence the performance expert gig, the webmaster gig, the field service gig, and now longshoreman.

Work when I want.  Sleep when I want.  It is all good.

Cjenny, and I didn't realise that there were such hardcore Mc Donald's fans out there. Such Corporate Loyalty!
"Yeah, that's right, we like Mc Donald's, you wanna MAKE something out of it?"
A Starbucks "driveby" at a McDonald's;  "You make Seven! We make Eleven!"  "You make Seven, we make Eleven!"

Jenny, yeah! Now I bet that group can be really mean!

I just thought of something, I bet *EVERYONE* shits on 7-11 workers!
I can see a Mc Donald's worker going into a 7-11 after his shift is over in uniform; "Heh! You fuckin' Wage Slave!"

...say Mc Donald's employees?
You know like, "Hah! We have college degrees and you didn't even graduate High School!"
Or, "Would you like fries with that, Chubby!"
Or maybe they go into a Mc Donald's *in uniform* and order a cup of coffee.....

I have no idea.  Probably, though.  All I know for sure is that I look down on Starbucks employees for working at the crappiest, most misleading coffee company in existence.

-personally, i think "Wawa" has the best coffee around ( a small convenience store in this area )...We have a Starbucks inside the grocery store I work in and all I get there is the green ice tea when I'm working...Starbucks I use to like but find lately it to be too strong for my liking...I once worked at McDonald's..we all have to start somewhere...people who look down on others aren't happy with themselves and feel better putting others down..

I agree for the most part, but it is possible to look down on someone a bit without putting them down.

MacD's is OK as long as one orders what real food they have, like the salad stuff they've introduced since denying their traditional menu is high fat, high salt shit with the nutritional attributes of lard. I eat there a couple of times a month when I'm working at the port in Felixstowe as its the nearest, most convenient place to get chicken with salad.

But I long since banned my kids from the place.

Yes I know this thread is in polls and random stupidity and yes I realise that your sense of humour tends to be mainly understood by those that are uber intelligent ....however in my pollyanna world .... I hope that people do not spend too much time thinking about how much better they are than others. The person earning a minimum wage is as important as the person who earns a trillion dollars a year.  Okay, back to the maccas vs starbucks debate (I am probably jealous as we do not have starbucks here).

*shrugs*  I worked for Starbucks for about a week.  I approve of their ecological efforts.  Yes... I do have a B.S.  So why have I recently worked for Starbucks, PetCo, and my county court house?

Because I'm a biologist in a big city.  I'm waiting to move out of here so I can find some wildlife to study.

Starbucks is one of the most evil companies today. They're at least as evil as Mickey D's because:

- they contribute to the great disfigurement of our environment with their ugly shopfronts and corporate iconography;
- they serve complete and utter crap to beliguered customers - and they charge a fortune for the shit they make;
- they go and build shops in areas where they know they will make a loss, purely with the purpose of closing down the already-established local businesses, so that they may reap their customers after they went down (this happened in Geneva - Suisse - in 2005: all of sudden, THREE Starbucks, no less, opened within the city. I'm talking intra-muros here, not the outskirts);
- Mickey D's employ subhuman ill-educated epsilon minus semi-morons; Starbucks hire genius staff with at least a college degree and a sense of style.

when i lived in San Francisco, there were three local coffee chains:  Peet's, Spinelli's & Pasqua.  Starbuck's set out to destroy Spinelli's & they did this by finding a location on the same block as each Spinelli's & offering the landlord of said location 3 times the going rent, opening the Starbuck's & with their marketing & product placements in movies, tv shows & magazines, drew in enough customers to run Spinelli's out of business.  In this instance, however, they were somewhat foiled by a rival Seattle company, Tully's--who, btw, have great coffee & real espresso--who bought out the Spinelli's & thrived & became actual competition for Starbuck's.

Starbuck's no longer makes real espresso, they have a machine into which the "barista" pours whole beans, then pushes a button & the machine grinds the beans in a measured amount & the "espresso" flows out the spigot into a cup.  if you've ever had the espresso made by hand, you would never frequent Starbuck's.  i don't frequent them or buy their products because i disagree with their business practices, the lack of customer service-oriented employees & their poorly made,  over-priced products.

thank you for allowing me to rant on your thread, Popeye & i will now return it to you...

ps:  i did get the joke & found it rather funny

We agree totally, lilsub. Starbucks aren't the only bastard business I actively boycott. Walmart's one of them too.

It takes a lot of work to be a righteous consumer today *sigh*.

However I am ultimately grateful, cos I consume, therefore, I am
