Yeah, you hear about these accidents from time to time, but then you have to ask yourself how many millions of people must have visited amusement parks in this country since the last time you heard about an accident. That'll give you some idea of the odds. I fly to third-world countries now and then, and sometimes I even get jittery about it, but I settle down by doing the same kind of calculation in my head. There are dozens of flights to any destination every day. quote:

In fact, usually tragedies like this subject the rides to even more thorough inspections, so they'll probably be safer than they would have been anyway. It's like never flying again because a plane crashed. BTW, Great Adventure in NJ is like a kiddy park compared to Cedar Point in Ohio
