Greetings Joseff and All..

I don’t think I would be considered cool in school, but I definitely was a chameleon, which upon reflection I believe has followed me through my life.

I was an honor student involved with the brains..., but knew how to hang with rednecks too (smile)..

I’ve never been cliquish because even early on I realized you can learn so much from all types of people. Everyone you meet is unique.

So even today, I can be the sluttiest slut or the classiest lady, a chameleon, whatever is needed at the time…cool in school? No…but such a cool life!!

I wasn't in any kind of group. I was in a group of one..me...Due to having a hearing problem i was considered retarded and stupid.
I turned out ok and am stronger for it.

I dated a banger all through high school; definitly not part of the 'popular' crowd lol. I had a death wish which made me mean as a rabid wolf. Hell, I am still mean, just more picky about who I lay it on now a days

I made it a point to stay away from the 'popular' people. I was there to acquire skills, not useless popularity. Whatever the 'in' crowd wanted to do, it affected me in no way, shape, or form. The things that interested them (clothing name brands, etc.) did not interest me whatsoever, and it never ceased to amaze me how incredibly shallow they were. Of couse, it wasn't hard to steer clear of them when I rarely talked to anyone. So, no, I wasn't popular. My teachers generally respected me though, except for the drama instructor; her class was the only one in which I performed poorly in my entire life; I simply have a hard time pretending to be someone or something I'm not.

i have NO idea what that means. Prolly cause i wasn't in school. I was the girl always getting tossed out for fighting.

I know that probably really shocks many of you.....

On a serious note, I had no idea that I even had a level of intelligence until I lept from the 9th grade to junior college and did just fine. (shhhhh, don't tell the acadamia people, they still have no idea they let me do that) So if you are looking for common denominators that may qualify. I also might have been popular had I actually been there. In grade school I wasn't though. I remember this one kid always picked on me.. so one day I snuck into the classroom on recess and broke his baseball cap. Of course I got busted.
Got paddled.

Then the really popular girl called me "scum" on the bus.

My father was a "lifer' in the military, so we moved all the time. It was very hard to make friends, but I made a few in high school: some jocks, some hoods, some nerds. I was a goody-two-shoes most of the time because my father was VERY strict (sometimes downright abusive) and I was always afraid of what would happen if I got into trouble. I wasn't allowed to wear the short skirts that were so popular, but once we were allowed to wear jeans in high school my father let me wear the tight hip huggers with no complaints. Still haven't figured that one out to this day. I pretty much breezed through my classes and graduated in the National Honor Society. I took Latin (because I wanted to believe it or not) and joined the Latin club. I received an award at the end of my senior year for scoring in the top 10 percentile of the US after taking the SAT. I was definitely a late bloomer. Joined the Air Force after being thrown out of the house at 18. Went back for my 20 year high school reunion along with an old boyfriend I hooked up with a year or two before. (We had dated on and off in high school). He knew the real (current) me and just sat back to watch everyone's reactions. No one could believe it was me. I wore a tight, short black dress with black hose and heels. Guys who wouldn't give me the time of day when I was in high school were suddenly wanting to 'buddy up' to me. I teased the hell out of them and enjoyed every second. The person I attended with told me once that I was never a 'joiner'. Guess I'm still not.

I wasn't a jock because I lettered in soccer and fencing., there are parts of the world where that would qualify....but not New Jersey in the seventies.
I wasn't a head because I refused to let the quest for weed determine my friends.
I was drama crew, chorus choir....not quite enough to be cool.
I got a couple student government offices, but my coup for student body vice president, using the slogan of "FRICK (insert real name here)" and "Frack (second name here)" "For a change" elicited ten years of puzzled looks, until Clinton used the same slogan to win.
I had some success in academics but not straight As, was known to be bright but not "wozniak, forget to wash , bright".

But to be honest I was a fair size fish in a small pond and the cruel process of elimination that creates a cool kids clique, that has to be self reinforcing, where they all know who is in ,and can't afford to form relationships with anyone outside for fear of loosing their charmed status. It didn't seem a very self actualizing thing. One of my best buddies was a bookish and overweight valedictorian, and I wouldn't give him up for the social points I could gain by cutting him down in public.

I spent highschool on the outside spitting in, getting laid, and not worrying a minute what the cool kids were doing. But then again a determination to lead, and an attitude of screw you all if you don't follow, might be the kernal of being dom.

I was a three sport letterman [football, hockey & lacrosse], drove a 1970 maroon Firebird with the huge decal on the hood. My graduating class was 803 strong, there were people I never saw until graduation. The whole place was impersonal, I never felt cool.

I wasn't part of any crowd. I was rather quiet and reclusive. Just going along, doing my own thing. I have since been told I was considered slightly odd and very stuck up. I have just never had a strong need to socialize a great deal, to ever try and fit in with any group. I haven't changed much I guess.

I was a disaffected punk rocker most of high school. Did not like going to school, although I got good grades, and had a few close friends and knew a lot of people.

Got invited to a lot of parties, dated a few girls until I met my punker PhD candidate.

The first two years I was stoned quite a bit, then I quit drugs the middle of my junior year.

Went to my twenty year reunion. Apparently, spending most of my adult life in martial arts, aerobics, hiking, and lots of physical activities means I still look pretty good for my age. Most of the rest of my high school had allowed themselves to go south to hibernate.

Had all these people that I remembered who I thought wouldnt cross the street to micturate on my teeth if they caught on fire come up to me and ask me how the hell I was and what the hell I had been doing.

Go figure.

I grew up in a tiny rural town outside of San Diego where there was a hitching post in front of the library and we tied our ponies up to it. My first album was a Chubby Checker album I picked up somewhere, didn't know that the twist was old in the 1970s...

Junior high I was king of the D&D dorks but otherwise a complete outsider, totally clueless about girls, etc. Girls liked me but it only took me about 20 some years to catch on they did. I was picked on all the time, never fought back. One time this short kid picked on me during basketball and I turned around and nailed him in the kidneys (just by accident) so he never bothered me again but it never occurred to me to try that on a wider scale.

Highschool was worse, had a couple of friends but otherwise a social outcast, still clueless with girls. Smartest kid with the worst grades. When I found out some of my friends had 4.2 gpa's because of AP classes I realized the game was rigged, dropped out and went to to a city college. I didn't get laid till I was 18 as I was still socially backward.

What changed it all for me was a job as a bouncer where I could socialize but also be invisible. I watched and learned and watched and learned. Odd thing is I didn't like kinky or wild sex. Had a girlfriend who loved giving head in bars and public places...god she freaked me out. Took another 15 or so years for my kinky side to blossom.
