Owen Heart, Eddie Gurrero, Sensational Sherri, Bam Bam Bigelow, (Benoit's wife...nancy...AKA WOMAN For those that don't know Nancy was at one time the manager of the tag team Ron Simmons and Butch Reed. And later the manager of last emergence of the 4 horsemen with Miss Elizabeth.) All the greats are dying off far too soon. Benoit was my favorite, I followed his career even way back when he was in the Old ECW. before I had satellite, my best friend did I did manage to catch some of his old matches in japan when I was very young. He had some of the greatest technical matches of all time. To be honest, the only reason I even watched smackdown was to see Benoit. At first I thought it was part of the vince mcmahon story line until I turned on fox news early this morning. Very brutal and sad to see this happen. Also, I just watched headline news,  the cause of death on all 3 was strangulation, Benoit strangled his son, and his wife, and later hung himself placing a bible by each body. They are saying but not verifying that sterioids were possibly the cause of the rage. They are also saying that other medications were found in the household.

Its definitely a horrible tradigty. Aside from what has just happened, in the ring is was one of the best. He took great pride in his in ring work and abilities and he was well respected by everyone in the business and that was very important to him. It's unfortunate that something like this will no doubt put a black eye on his legacy as a performer.

I recently read in an article that he had sent a text message to Chavo Guerrero just before the weekend but there was no word on what the text message said.

I dont know much about roid rage so I wont speculate on it, nor am I trying to start a rumor (enough of those have been thrown round on the net already about it), but I do have a question. They say they think he murdered is wife one day, his son the next, and the himself then next. He called and canceled his appearance at Vengance the night before it. If it is roid rage, can roid rage last for days at a time? I thought it was just something that lasted a few hours or something.

Yeah, but the nice thing about professional wrestling is that masking isn't necessary -- it is entertainment, not sport, so they have no interest in doing any testing at all.

No one mentions his poor wife and son that much.

Since Eddie Gurrero died the WWE has suspended severel wrestlers because of drug problems. most recently Nick "Eugene" Densmore. So there is a level of testing going on. But I think someone bought it up in a previous post, in mick foleys book I forget which one, most of the guys actually cathaterize themselves so they piss clean for drug screenings. Hopefully since the murder-suicide happened they will be more random and WWE will stop coming under fire for stuff like this. And I agree with MzMia Ma'am, very little mention of the wife and child. Much like Paris Hilton getting out of jail, the press is only interested in the celebrity, not the families affected.

i'm stunned beyond belief.

Living here in ATL i had the opportunity to meet Benoit a couple differnt times through fan access tours and such along with the uhms (one of whom aspires to be a pro wrestler). He was one of the few wrestlers i've met through the years that thanked me for bringing the family to meet him and for supporting his career.geez got loads of pix in the family album to remember.....but do i want to?

Never once did my abuser radar go off when meeting him.I work in domestic violence and alot of men that are give off signals. Benoit was very polite and soft spoken, and humble for a superstar of the ring compared to some of his peers.

seems Nancy had previously gotten a protective order against Chris but had dropped it.she was married to a writer of wrestling storylines when she was 'woman' and benoits atoryline love interest back in like 96? she also had a career as a manager. i always thought they had a storybook romance and he appeared to be a devoted family man.

Following the news reports since last night it gets more and more shocking.i cant believe he turned on his family....

The latest reports say he strangled her possibly as early as fri, then smothered his son on sat and hung himslef late sun  or early mon.

steroids have been found in the home.

his fans are showing up at his door and leaving tributes to his memory.

He may have lost it and done something tragic but noone can take away the fact he was one of the best wrestlers ever.

the man was a role model to my male uhms and to think that it all ended this way is horrible.

i'm having to adjust my schemas about him .

it truly sux

how do you reconcile the fact someone whom your uhms admired took out his wife and kid?

i still keep hoping to find out that it was staged to look like he did it and it was a murder... however................

Amen, MzMia.
Sadly for Mrs Benoit and her son, she did not follow her instincts with the order of protection. Abusers are persuasive/cunning/manipulative and often murderous.

I heard in the news tonight that Mrs. Benoit had bruises on her back, indicating he held her down with his knees, bruising on her abdomen from the pressure exerted by his knee and of course strangulation marks.

He is exactly as despicable as Scott Peterson < as DG stated>, Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacey. Who all had stellar public images.
Key word = image.

I am  sickened that some of the wrestling fans are laying tributes to him at his home.

Ya got a woman strangled and a child strangled with a husband/ father, hanging from some weigth lifting equipment. I suspect they came to the right conclussion.

But, you live in Ga., are there other stories going around that would indicate something else ?

I would say don't go to wwe.com for the story, they tell half truths and whole lies. Go to a more credible site such as foxnews or msnbc.com, now they are also saying, which I failed to mention in my last post Chris Benoit was injecting his 7 year old son with growth hormones. If I were going to Ga. to set up a memorial it would be for Nancy and the boy, they were the innocent victims in this terrible crime.

Not that Im saying you're wrong, but I hadnt heard anything about him injecting his son with hormones, thats a first.

I was just watching CNN Nancy Grace and authoritiesare not saying its roid rage. They are waiting on Tox results. They did say the fact that it took place over a 2 or 3 day span, that he sat in the house up to a day after the two murders, and the fact he placed a bnible with the bodies does not indicate or seem like roid rage. But again they are not confirming or denying it until tox reports are in.

There are a lot of news stories saying a lot of different things as we all know and see. No one will know definite answers for a few weeks when tox reports come in. Further more, no one will ever know what really happened in the house or why.

All we can do is hope and pray for the extended families, friends, loved ones, and the victims.

And WWE is not celebrating or defending Benoit. They have gone so far as to remove all Chris Benoit memorobelia and items from there site.

Strangling the wife, well... That is certainly a very bad thing, but... it can be understood.  The rest...  madness.

I was following the progress of the story thru the day.  Last stop was the WWE site, to see the spin.  Their position is that it couldn't have been the steroids anyway, because this was a prolonged event, rather than the stereotypical 'roid rage, explosion of violence.  They probably should have hired better liars than ones who usually do the storylines on the website.  No business like show business.

hi kyswitchm,

i've been getting most of my reports from the local metro atlanta news stations ,fox, cbs, and abc. its all over the local stations during commercial breaks too.last reports for 11 pm news say ,more clues pouring in.

benoit was well loved in atl from his wcw days.he was getting ready to open a gym by his house. which is another thing i find odd. usually people that are suicidial dont have goals and plans for the future other than getting rid of their belongings.

as to wwe ...i take them with a grain of salt after the whole vince car bomb thing. first thing i did there was go to the wilkes-barre papers to see what they said*grin*. i told the uhms that was bs cause only wwe and other wrestling mags had that story going on and then the local papers said it was a hoax.they knew i was right last night during raw when vince walked out to talk about benoit.

if there are reports for drug testing they will have to eventually turn it over to authorities to verify. at least i would think so.

the youngest uhm said last night that benoit was in heaven with eddie when raw showed them hugging with their belts after wrestlemania and i had to explain that if he did this to his family... (which it appears to be)...
no he would not be
he would be rotting in hell

the hardest thing for me to accept is the kids murder..........

Quite true, wwe.com used to be a credible site as far as finding news like that, but since the McMahon youngins took it over, its pretty much went to hell in a handbasket. the only reason I even go there anymore is to find out who wins the PPVs. For a decent site, Sir, I would suggest www.wrestlezone.com they report on all of the stuff even backstage, and firings and who'se on the outs. Very good and very informative site.

Yeah.  It's not like he'd have had to wear his pants halfway down his ass to survive in prison...

i don't follow wrestling but i grieve for His wife and child. That poor kid will never grow up and have a family..such a tragic waste...to die so young..Tragic for his mom to die also. :(

As for the stories i don't believe anything until all the tests etc. are in.  If it was some drug how accountable are you for using them, choosing to use them, and the end result because of them? When will people wake the hell up?
