Tough question.  I believe we all are one or the other to a degree. Personally...

Loved by those I choose to love and adored by that special someone.  To be such would be so much better than feared.
I offer respect to most, even those I don't know; unless they prove themselves unworthy of it.  By the same token I prefer to be treated as such.

yes of course; it should be the republican sub-text moto.

No no....Caligula.....it is a latin phrase......Let them hate, so long as the fear.

slaveish -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/28/2007 10:22:17 AM)

Respected, then loved. Within my own definition of love, one cannot love me if he or she does not respect me first.

angelspassion4u -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/28/2007 10:25:09 AM)

I want to be loved and respected.  Never be feared.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/28/2007 10:28:56 AM)

All 3
Loved, respected then feared
My boys love me, becasue we have close emotional connections and I foster that love.
I want to be respected for how I act, and how I treat them and others.
I want to be feared so that they wil not want t push to se what they can get away iwth, but rather have a healthy respect for my abilities and a good fear of what I can do if not happy.

A balance of al 2 is idea. If I had to choose just one, though, t would be love.  I cannot be happy without knowing my boys love me, and I love them.

Hello, in the King James Version of the holy bible; there is a passage, that deals with this very subject. In short, it reads, .....the greatest of these, is Love; ...and it goes on.....even though I speak with the voices of angels, and have not love, I become as sounding brass and a tinkling symbol.

Another phrase....Greater love hath no man, than this, to lay down his life for a friend.

So there....if you want to talk about this...then goggle it. I know, I know, there are those among you who would admonish me for bring up something from a handbook written in the 1500's or so.

I want to be loved by someone, loved for always.

Would I rather be feared, respected, or loved?

I never want to be feared. To me fear is the lowest energy that there is. I destest feeling it myself and I do not enjoy getting that energy from others.

Respect is nice, I respect myself, if others respect me because of that, fine, but if they do not I still respect myself.

The same goes for love, if I love myself, it does not matter if certain people love me or not, although like every person I need to feel loved.

It is more important for me to demonstrate love and respect for others than it is for them to feel it for me. I find that if i love and respect myself, those that do not respect and love me tend to not stay around. The key to getting a thing is to give it, and if one continues to give it then sooner or later the match for that energy comes back.

I don't believe love is possible without respect, so I'd choose love and have respect as a side-order.

The ability to generate fear now and again is also useful...

To paraphrase my favorite office manager, I want people to fear how much they love me.

mons -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (7/5/2007 2:26:11 AM)

greetings

all of the above. to  be love in the right way, you can bring fear of leaving to that person. also the respect that person will for you. by bringing this feeling to him and the love will follow. so i see it as all of the above.

mons ( i am working very hard on my witing skills, i do hope this makes sense to many of you.

CrimsonMoan -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (7/5/2007 8:39:44 AM)

Depending on who you ask about me I am all 3. Respected by those who know me well enough to know what i have gone through and overcome. Loved by all that know me well enough and feared by those who know me well enough to know what i am capable of.

IrishMist -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (7/5/2007 8:52:32 AM)

In regards to my teenager

loved, respected but never feared...in that order

darchChylde -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (7/5/2007 9:07:01 AM)

being feared leaves a coldness within

being respected is something i demand by my actions, and is completely under my control

being loved, there is nothing more satisfying
