Why are the numbers arranged differently on the calculator compared to on my phone? Why cant I work a Playstation controller when I can play guitar and use a typewriter with few errors? Why is it that for weeks, very little happens in my social life, then there's a whole week of stuff going on? Why does wine put me to sleep within twenty minutes, but other alcoholic drinks keep me awake? Why is it still raining? E

Please if anyone can answer this one? LE? This is a real question directed at you and other folks from the UK, specifically those that have been to the US. A friend from UK is coming to see me and asked what I wanted as a fun gift. I requested English Candy, but he wants specific types! I have no idea what types of candy are in England but not in the US. Please can anyone give me a list? Please please?

I dont know where to start Jenny! We have all sorts. What do you prefer? Sugary stuff, chocs (dark/milk/white)? Stuff with nuts/fruit in it? Boiled sweets? Toffee? Caramel? I can highly recommend "Tooty Fruity" sweets, "Rolo" (choc with toffee), "Munchies" (choc with toffee and biscuit), "Fruit and Nut" - milk choc with walnuts and raisins in it, and our latest favourite "Vimto" sweets - Vimto is originally a fruit drink but now they have it in candy form! E

Okay, not from the UK, but maybe it'll be a different perspective since I know what we have, and what they have, etc. I would go for Cadbury...major candy bar brand there, and the choccy is divine...some to choose from... Flake, Snowflake, Crunchie (sooo good), Turkish Delight, Marble Bar, Picnic...Flake Dark. I discovered all these at an int'l supermarket back in the days when I lived in a metro area..one of the few things I actually miss.... -wanders away thinking about crunchie bars and flake bars- -a -edited to add..Bournville!! don't forget that one..laughs-

What is HP sauce please? And I am writing all of this stuff down, thanks for the yummy ideas and please keep em coming! LE I like anything with sugar lol. grinz But I really want stuff that is typically British like um, I heard about timtams. Thingies like that! Thanks everyone. Yay I'm so excited. He has been an online friend for about five years, it will be soooooo fun meeting him and hugging him in person. I adore having houseguests!

Hiyas Arpig and gm to ya. We have Cadbury too, very yum stuff. I just had a thought, has anyone a link where I could look over English candies? Like the name of a shop where I could peruse the inventory sort of thing? Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I LOVE THIS THREAD. I have a billion random questions bouncing through my head at all times lol. HP Sauce is a secret - not to be divulged outside our borders..... it used to be made near here in Birmingham but they just closed the factory and moved it to Holland of all places. Its a concoction of fruits, vegetables and spices that is just right for sausages, eggs etc and especially on lasagne. E
