I want to know why some parents send their kids off to college with a new car, a full bank account and plenty
of credit cards and then wonder why the kids fail their classes because they are out all night partying?!

Heeeeeey..I wanna be one of those kids..-laughing-

And to answer the question..no worries...in twenty years those will be the same parents constantly complaining about having to bail their kids out all the time..ie, giving them money, buying them a house, etc...

Edit:
My question: Why the hell do people watch sports, games, and other things that they could be doing themselves instead?

Because if I ever tried the sports I watch..football..ice skating..gymnastics..luge.. I'd end up with multiple broken bones..contusions and hospital bills. My name isn't Grace for a reason.... *g*

What kills me more than the old folk in their Buicks are the old folk driving sports cars at 20 mph under the speed limit. I find myself thinking, you're supposed to go FAST in that car, not slow!

Argh... i was at the gas station the other day, and a guy pulls up in a Cadillac CTS-V (very fast, sports-oriented mid-size sedan)... gets out and practically sticks his face on the gas pump, trying to figure out what it says and how to use it. i could have cried.

Why is it that i almost never bruise when we're scening, and when i do, i'm lucky if it lasts two days, but i get huge stupid bruises from things that i don't even remember happening that last for weeks?

Why are the numbers arranged differently on the calculator compared to on my phone?

Why cant I work a Playstation controller when I can play guitar and use a typewriter with few errors?

Why is it that for weeks, very little happens in my social life, then there's a whole week of stuff going on?

Why does wine put me to sleep within twenty minutes, but other alcoholic drinks keep me awake?

Why is it still raining?

Please if anyone can answer this one?

LE? This is a real question directed at you and other folks from the UK, specifically those that have been to the US.

A friend from UK is coming to see me and asked what I wanted as a fun gift. I requested English Candy, but he wants specific types! I have no idea what types of candy are in England but not in the US.
Please can anyone give me a list? Please please?

I dont know where to start Jenny! We have all sorts.

What do you prefer? Sugary stuff, chocs (dark/milk/white)? Stuff with nuts/fruit in it? Boiled sweets? Toffee? Caramel?

I can highly recommend "Tooty Fruity" sweets, "Rolo" (choc with toffee), "Munchies" (choc with toffee and biscuit), "Fruit and Nut" - milk choc with walnuts and raisins in it, and our latest favourite "Vimto" sweets - Vimto is originally a fruit drink but now they have it in candy form!

Okay, not from the UK, but maybe it'll be a different perspective since I know what we have, and what they have, etc. I would go for Cadbury...major candy bar brand there, and the choccy is divine...some to choose from... Flake, Snowflake, Crunchie (sooo good), Turkish Delight, Marble Bar, Picnic...Flake Dark. I discovered all these at an int'l supermarket back in the days when I lived in a metro area..one of the few things I actually miss....

-wanders away thinking about crunchie bars and flake bars-

-edited to add..Bournville!! don't forget that one..laughs-

Funny, but most of those chocolate bars are readily available here in Canada. Cadbury is big up here as well

HP Sauce is a secret - not to be divulged outside our borders..... it used to be made near here in Birmingham but they just closed the factory and moved it to Holland of all places. Its a concoction of fruits, vegetables and spices that is just right for sausages, eggs etc and especially on lasagne.

And why some of these same parents never make sure their kids have basic domestic skills like grocery shopping,
cooking, laundry, cleaning and balancing a budget?

What exactly are they preparing them to be in life?

Sorry Lady E, but someone cheated then because HP sauce is readily available in any grocery store here (and you are right, it is good on darn near anything)...Hmmm, I am beginning to think that we in Canada have the best of both sides of the pond
