Sorry Lady E, but someone cheated then because HP sauce is readily available in any grocery store here (and you are right, it is good on darn near anything)...Hmmm, I am beginning to think that we in Canada have the best of both sides of the pond

Its all down to who one's head of state is I think. Best vote to keep the queen if you want HP and Cadbury's!

I want to know why some parents send their kids off to college with a new car, a full bank account and plenty
of credit cards and then wonder why the kids fail their classes because they are out all night partying?!

And why some of these same parents never make sure their kids have basic domestic skills like grocery shopping,
cooking, laundry, cleaning and balancing a budget?

What exactly are they preparing them to be in life?

Because they're stupid and lazy.

What are they preparing them to be in life?
Privates in the Army.

My next odd question:

Did anyone notice that Popeye just said "privates"?

Heh heh heh. Privates.

Please if anyone can answer this one?

LE? This is a real question directed at you and other folks from the UK, specifically those that have been to the US.

A friend from UK is coming to see me and asked what I wanted as a fun gift. I requested English Candy, but he wants specific types! I have no idea what types of candy are in England but not in the US.
Please can anyone give me a list? Please please?

All-sorts.

Licorice.

Tasty chocolate.

That sort of thing.

Basically, any candy you can buy in the US actually has flavor when the Brits make it.

Oh, and another odd question, what the hell is it about women's clothing sizes?
One woman can be 5'2" and a "size 6" and another woman can be 5'10" and a "size 6"!
Us guys just can't figure it out.

Why do people buy expensive cars??? Really? Does the $30,000 car get you where you are going any better than the then $15,000 car?

I understand spending big bucks on a vehicle that has a purpose (I have a $45,000 truck...but we USE it for something no other type of less expensive vehicle could do.)

But a car just gets you from point A to point B...so why buy a Lexxus when a Cavalier will do????

Privates in the Army.

They could be financially providing for their kids so that they could focus on their studies. I was estranged from my parents during college and had no financial help from them...the stress of working two jobs and going to school 18hrs a semester to keep my academic scholarship is probably the reason why I'm the only valedictorian I know that never finished her degree.

As for the "life skills" , perhaps the parents weren't very good at them either? My mom did try to teach me to budget (didn't work) but those other things? She wasn't any good at them either so it was kind of hard for her to teach me. She's a horrible cook and almost as bad at housework.

I thought I'd start this thread for those pesky odd questions that everyone must have and that maybe someone else in here might know the answer to but that you can't really find answers to online.

Here's one.
Why is it that it seems that really old, old people drive Buicks?
Everytime I get stuck behind someone in traffic it's invariably some q-tip in a Buick doing 20 mph under the limit.
I think there must be an age limit to buy a Buick, maybe 80 years old minimum.
Anyone else notice this?

My father is like this.  His reason is that when he was in his youth, he had a Buick.  He LOVED that car!  As life went on, he couldn't afford one.  In his later years he could.  And he drives slow because he's not in that big a hurry to go anyplace :)  He's enjoying the ride.

Lotus, I knew I was close.
By the way, I'm not denigrating BUICKS in any way!
They make a very nice car!
After I made this thread I went into the Buick website and took a look. VERY nice cars! A little pricey though.
My Mercury Gran Marquis is just as good at thousands less.
Funny, I went to the store earlier today to get lottery tickets and saw two "Old Farts" in Buicks again! lol
Now I'll really be noticing them!

Nope, they live under the over passes. Or do they live in the under passes?

Maybe I'm thinking of trolls. I don't think they drive though.
