Black Snake Moan? - 7/3/2007 12:54:03 AM

Status: offline 		I saw this the other night and was surprised how much it made me think about the relationship between a sub and a domme/dom. It's basically about Samuel L. Jackson finding a girl (christina Ricci) on the side of the road and his attempt to correct his life and her own. He basically chains her up and at first she is really against it, but as it goes on she gets into wearing the chain around her. By about an hour and a half into it even after the chain is off and she's free to go there's a scene where it's thundering and lightning out and she crawls over to him, sits by his feet and asks to sing her a song. Did anybody else who saw it really look at how much of a bdsm undertone there seemed to be?

Yes.  I found that scene very hot as well as several others.  The fact that there was never any overt sexual activity between the two of them made it all the hotter.  It was very much a "Daddy Dom"-type feel.  I don't normally find Ricci that attractive but man did she sport those little white cotton panties like a champ!  I found myself wishing Justin Timberlake would just vanish and she could live happily ever after with Laz being a good little submissive girl.  They obviously loved each other and he could really take care of her, unlike her panicky, needy little boy friend.  Oh well.....I really loved the movie and that scene where she confronts her trashy-ass mother at the store and then Laz carries her out - pure gold................luci

Status: offline 		I watched the movie in the theater with a bunch of kinky friends, I can just imagine the faces of the nilla folks when Laz takes off the chain and about half of us scream out "No! Dont do that!" or when there were moans when she grabbed the wedding chain when she was trying to center herself

To me it sounds more like BDSM porn or a fantasy start of a relationship.

Status: offline 		I watched this movie last night (ok, so I'm a bit behind). I really enjoyed the movie but I didn't make any kind of a connection to D/s. Maybe it's because I view D/s as a relationship between healthy people and not one between people who use it as a means of fixing each other.

The Fountainhead is hands down my favorite book. I haven't seen the movie, but now I'll have to.

I actually did notice that. From the cover, I didn't expect it to be as sexy as it was! (Samuel L. is a hottie, no denying that--but he looked very old and worn out in the movie) I ended up loving the movie and and I did notice the BDSM overtone in it.....which is probably why I enjoyed it so much!!

Status: offline 		I feel like I saw a totally different movie from everyone else lol. It was so bad I couldn't watch til the end & I'm a Samuel Jackson fan too! The plot was beyond shaky & IMO chains don't always equal BDSM (unfortunately).

Status: offline 		I am not going to read all the posts because i have not seen the movie yet and i hate finding stuff out in advance. But i will say that i was immediatly intrigued by the poster and after much research and watching interviews with the actors etc. I am very excited to see the movie whether or not it has bdsm undertones or not. Anyone want to have movie night at my place?

Status: offline 		Anyone who missed the BDSM undertones is definitely blind.  Loved the movie....the wedding chain scene was more than satisfying...but the guitar scene got Me hot and bothered....acceptance of her role was there to be enjoyed by anyone who had even barely had someone give in to You.

It's a terrific book. The movie version is from 1949, with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal.

Well, people have been saying that for year. I read the book a few years ago for school and remember in my research, finding a lot of people declaring that there was a kinky thing going on. Also a lot of people calling it rape.

Status: offline 		I did see this movie...purchased it without reading a review on it. It did have some BDSM things in it. However, I believe Samuels performance although empathic and caring was not top rate. Meaning  even in his smaller roles such as 1408 this was NOT he best. However, I did like the symbolism of the chain.
