Well, it's not like walking into a car dealership to say the least. You can indeed find these things on the net but they are likely to be pricey. Probably well built no doubt, but not cheap. Now the first thing will show the difference between engineers and regular folk. You mentioned what you weigh, that doesn't mean a thing, what matters is what does your Master weigh ? The axle and wheels should be able to support about five to seven times his dead weight. Then his position must be considered. At comfort, somewhere between 5 and 20 % of his weight should be on you. This is a simple lever with the axle being the fulcrum. All this does depend on the design you want. Or he wants, whichever. Some of these carts are simply pulled by hand, and at the other extreme some carts are restrictive, with you in a harness and your hands bound to the poles or something. I have quite a collection of pony pictures, and sometimes the "pony" is really in bondage and can't get out. Some Masters even put their ponies in chastity belts. Get me on the other side with a real email that can accept attachments and I will send you the collection. Most of it is no longer on the web due to USC2257. Some of these getups are pretty gnarly to a bondage freak like me. My preference would be that everything locks, so even a passer by could not get you loose. Even if you stick with private property and never go in public, the feeling has got to be incredible. Have you worn a bit and harness ? If you go that route there goes a bit of money. You can build a nice cart for a couple of hundred. But you might have up to ten times that much into your "tack". Even going the simplest route for now, with the cart being simply hand pulled, there are a few constants. If your Manster is not morbidly obese, bicycle wheels should do just fine. The only problem is properly supporting the cart on the axle. Also consider if you want to have some form of suspension on it rather than a straight up axle. Give him a cushy ride and at the same time, when in motion it will be easier on the pony, less jerking due to bumps in the road, or floor. Another important consideration is the weight of the cart. It's not just that a heavier cart is harder to get going, it's that it is harder to STOP. I doubt Master wants your face ploughed into a brick wall. Unless you are into some really serious shit that is :-).In any case I would suggest some brakes, no matter how simple. This could just be a rod that hits the ground. I have always wanted to try this, and one great concern of mine is going downhill. As much as I like the idea, having my face pushed along the ground and all scraped up would be a big turnoff. Finding two identical bicycles would be nice, you could use the forks, which would facilitate some sort of spring suspension nicely, and then you should be able to use the stock bicycle brakes. The cables should be run to a lever in a manner where they self equalize, like center pull bike brakes, and should have a way to lock as like a parking brake. That way if you are restrained to the thing Master will surely find you where he left you. Actually the cart should not be so heavy that you can't drag it, although it should not be easy. In my view, the completed curb weight should not exceed 200 lbs. Less is better in this case. If you are to be restrained to it, you need like a runner under the poles by which you pull the cart so that they will not hit the ground. That way if you fall, the harness will actually protect you, supporting you during the mishap so you don't leave part of your face on the ground. Still the thought of that scenario makes me shrink. Care must be taken to try to insure this thing does not break you back or legs. Anyway, for now I am just throwing a few ideas out there. Carts can be bought. They are not cheap though. I don't know what type of tools you and Master have, but if you're good with wood, have a bicycle shop in the area and have a bit of ingenuity you can build the thing. Using bicycle forks allows you to setup a virtual center of gravity, so that if Master shifts his weight forward or back, that load is not immediately and fully reflected to you. (for lack of better words). The travel of the suspension can also be angled so that in forward motion the wheels tend to roll more easily over bumps. That is what they do in automobiles. If you watch a luxury rear wheel drive car spin it's wheels they suck up into the body. That is a function of the suspension that delivers the superior ride. However in a race car they do not do that, in fact they do the opposite until they get wheel hop and back it off a few degrees. This is to provide the maximum traction. We do not have that problem though, because YOU power the cart, there are no drive wheels, unless you are into some seriously heavy shit :-) ( I like to throw that in from time to time ). I am a self educated engineer, and I am kinkier than a ten foot piece of wire it took three hours to extricate from a lawn mower. I have given this some thought, and one day would like to go into building bondage gear, which includes pony gear and carts. I am no stranger to force vectors, and shear as well as tensional/compressional forces. Let's not forget torsion. When I build something it does not break. I would love to build a cart, almost for the simple satisfaction of it, but no, I do need to be paid. I don't know if anything will ever come of this, since we are two states away. But I am here with ideas anytime. Hit me on the other side if you want those pictures. If this is something you want to do I bet you'll at least like looking at them. And they might give you some ideas. T
