do you know Bob? or perhaps the keeper of the archives (proudsub......that lady knows everything....) could direct us to a website where these laws are readable to such as us..........In fact this is a better idea than the laser targeting device.......why is there not a BDSM and the LAW forum where such information can be exchanged and evaluated, perhaps divided further by Federal and state by state............

In my prior post I posted this link. http://tinyurl.com/9j3t8 Natl Archives & Records Admin/ Federal
Register

The law is stated there, although I haven't been able to find it yet. You have to spend more time looking for it than I have had so far. Which is why I had not said anything on this topic until yesterday when it somehow needed to be said.

The bottom line is, it is becomming law very shortly. There is nothing we can do about it. Any nude photo on the internet has to have a release from the model. With address and phone number attached. However, the address and phone number need not be visible yet you have to posess them if you have the photo.
If you sell said photo you must produce them as well.
Fine for having any nudity on the internet without a release is a 10 year prison stretch for each offense.

So, whether they decide to impose the law or not I know of no webmasters who are going to try to get away with it.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned... which is the hardest part for most sites..

You have to have the signed verification, and copy of ID, but that's not all. As I understand it, they must also be accessible, 20 hrs a week... just as a storfront would have.
This is the problem we are running into with our real time group. Some of our members have nude photos on our group site in the photos section. Well, coming up soon they have a have the verification, and have it be accessible 20 hours a week. Should someone ask to see it.

As for Dr. Laura. I listen on occasion, it gives me comic relief to my day. Children in a home can do worse than seeing a loving relationship bewteen their parents, and that mommy respects daddy. There are worse things... Dr. Laura should maybe take a lesson.

She does, very much, come off as a ProDomme....laughs...

I looked at the pics. I believe they do look like a younger version of her, the nose, eyes, chin....

ahhh... great start to the day, thank you all.

Sincerely,

Whether or not the pictures look like her, Dr Laura has admitted on her show that the photos are real. I would have expected someone to graciously conceed the point. That's the other half of what makes for mature discourse.

Dr Laura is a charicature of a therapist and that's how she makes her living. I sometimes listen to Rush Limbaugh for comic relief and to assure myself that I'm not so closed-minded as to not be able to hear "the other side". But I CAN'T listen to Dr Laura. It's not the fact that I disagree with her that pisses me off so much, it's the harm she does to so many with her reprehensible "advice". It's not funny when the caller's are real (maybe 80%?) and they really believe her. Psychiatric clinicians of all sorts have a solemn duty to do no harm and she willfully abuses people in need for ratings.

A friend of mine is a proponent of "ethical terrorism" (a la Fight Club). I'm not, but if I were, she would be a top target.

Huh.. I had no idea that she had admitted it. Thank you. I am not an avid listener, nor do I read anything by her, or about her... Or I do so, like this, on a rare occasion.

Thank you

They don't have the manpower to enforce it and even if it passes it will most likely be struck down in short order when challenged.

The other thing to remember is that this law affects only the US. The rest of the world won't acknowledge it and nudity on the 'Net will be just as common as it is now.

As I've already stated I hope they don't enforce it...also as a webmaster myself I'm not going to take the chance on prison that they enforce it or not.

That is a good point, IMO anyways...

How can the US government enforce a law like this on something as international as the internet? How could they? As far as I know, and keep in mind my own legal knowledge is severely limited, but...How can the US govern the millions of sites operated out of foreign countries?

Or maybe I am just missing something ehre....lol....Which could very well be

To my knowedge they cannot. However, that doesn't matter the law will be on the book's and can be enforced at any time. That means any nude photo in a profile has to have a release or it is a ten year sentence.
I don't make the law....I'm merely educating everyone on the law as I have been educated on it. Its nasty.

Essentially their goal is to get rid of pedophiles. Therefore making it a federal offense to anyone who post's a nude photo on the internet without a signed release.
Stupid because children are not of legal age to sign anyway.
However it will stop some...because those people who operate those sites..they will hold them responsible for these photo's. Therefore they will not post them. However, regular plain old porn is also part of the law....so we are all going to pay one way or another.

Like my prior post...Bound and Gagged is already closing its door's. It is only the first of many.

i would like to say that i do not understande such intolerance as is often shown by Dr. Laura and others of her 'ilk'..... i would like to say that yes, but i cannot.
it was not so long ago that i too, was like that. it shames me a lot to remembre how i also put down those who lived in ways i was afraid to understande.
it is my dearest hope that others will come, as i have (and still am), to a better comprehension and acceptance of those who live 'outside the accepted box' of our society.
