No, I did not think it rocked because I do not find arrogance and pride to be a virtue. I look for humility.

Hello, sorry to snip so much, but I just wanted to say...

Isn't the profile you're discussing doing JUST exactly what it should do, then? It shows you that the person isn't the type you're looking for... so you move on. Where's the problem?

~ Elektra

No, it is needlessly slamming doors shut because intelligent people know that a pious snob with her nose stuck that high up in the air does not make for the catch of the day. Her target audience, the smart people like herself, save for a select few, stand to be disillusioned and turned off before ever making the initial contact. she merely slams the door shut before it ever really opened. I am suggesting that she consider a new approach that might generate more leads than her current MO.

your mother needs to learn a thing or two about virtue IMHO.

Well your HO is wrong.

It could be, but I doubt it. Pride is not a virtue and any wise person knows this.

quote:

I do not think you understood My point. The point is that Proverbs 31 outlines the qualities of a virtuous and desirable woman, regardless of doctrine.

Well I disagree with those qualities as the definition of all virtuous and desireable women.

Disagree with them all you want, but smart, wise men know that it is those types of women that are the true catch, and smart, wise men are your target audience. That wisdom is time tested and proven and predates you by millenia. If every man was wise enough to follow it there would be far fewer divorces.

Regardless of the fact that I think the whole Y/y thing is ridiculous and if anything makes things difficult to read (and affects the perceived legitimacy of the content), the fact that you refer to yourself in the "higher" "master stance (by typing things like My instead of my) is far more arrogant and presumptous than anything in Emerald's profile.

You take presumption to entirely new level by making people who read public forums like this one see your bogus attitude, indicating that you are somehow on a higher pedestal than the lowly, common (lowercase) "us."

You are not my "mater." For you to presume so in a public forum is pathetic. To me, that need for ego stroking (when it goes to the level of in public forums, not your private emails to your partner) is telling of your security issues.

Oh! I want to boost my ego! Hmmmm, I am tall and beautiful, clever, witty and very smart. I am successful at my job and in most of my schoolwork (the only exception being my thesis [:@] ). Ummmm, I just got a sexy new haircut that makes my look like a rock star (not really me, but I still like it, it's just soooooo short [:(] ). I have a boyfriend who loves me and who is coming home from a week-long trip to Kentucky tomorrow (yay!).

oh, and I forgot to add that I just got the most beautiful new shoes, I will post a picture as soon as I take one, I just love them.
New Shoes

I was just feeling left out and wanted to add something [:D]

edited to add the bit about my new shoes
edited again to add the new link to my new shoes [:D]

Actually, My point is that it turned Me off and is thus likely to unnecessarily turn others off too. I would think as a woman that is seeking that it would be contrary to your objectives to needlessly slam doors shut before they ever really opened. There is much room for improvement and is not the awesome profile that you think it is evidently.

In other words, there is a way to get your point across without coming across the way you do. you have the brains. you can figure it out.

And you mention that you do not go around talking about how you are all that???? I have personally rarely seen anyone be so presumptious ( and I thought I had seen it all). In short you appear to be saying that if you don't care for it, no one else will either, and someone should change their personality to fit your ideals so they can find what *you* think they are or should be looking for?

I hate to break this to you, but people are different. What is unattractive to one is exceedingly attractive to another. Take for example, yourself. I dont' find much in what I've seen of your posts, etc. to recommend you (to me)...even prior to this thread. You appear to have few of the characteristics that I would look for. Even so, I would never be so presumptuous as to tell you that you should change to fit my ideal. That would be egotistical of me! I would simply move along to someone who did interest me.

And your comment about Emerald's mother? I found that very childish.

best regards,
fate

You should consider the possibility that that is precisely why others feel her profile rocks. This isn't mass marketing -- I think it is better to have a profile that will eliminate unsuitable matches instead of attracting them.

funny to see the intelligent ladies here responding to your posts; look to me like they're thinking the same thing about you.

fillepink -> RE: Ads on this site. sigh.... (6/20/2005 4:26:44 PM)

well, this thread just amazed me. it began as a general grousing about how little some profiles inform the reader -- and Gawd knows, the emails are sometimes no better -- and deteriorated into a debate about emerald's profile in particular. i find that a bit mean-sprited, if i do say so. she is still in her 20's and i do not think she meant to be fodder for the group's discussion to anywhere near this degree -- no matter whether she was defended or attacked. W/we all try to write profiles TO ATTRACT THE ONE W/we SEEK...and so far, mine does a lousy job...but i don't know what else to say; sigh. while i would appreciate HELPFUL comments; please email me; i'm shy and do not wish to be in emerald's position. fillepink

I love your profile smile2cu

I am not brave enough or apparently creative enough to make much of a profile.
Thanks. Yours is quite concise.

Come now, pick a few of the things about you that someone might like. I'm a kind and gentle person, so pick me, if no one else comes to mind. And just tell me about yourself. What might I like about you?
You're quiet. That's fine. Sometimes I am too. What brought you to this site? I see you're a submissive. Just trying it out in your mind or interested in real time? (Either is OK, and you don't even have to answer.)
I'm just trying to make a few suggestions. Email me if you'd like, and I'd be happy to help.

concise.... a nice way of saying empty!!!

Not really. If you read how I use capitilization, I merely use it to differentiate between Dom and sub while at the same time using it as a sign of respect to other Masters. I use Y/you as much as Me.. Sooo.. I believe it is how I speak to E/everyone in general that shows My level of respect. I do not talk down to anyone. I treat E/everyone as My equal. All your post boils down to, then, is factless, baseless presumptions.

I dunno. she is trying to attract smart men. If they are attracted to that, how smart are they or what are they lacking? The point is that you do not eliminate all unsuitable matches with that approach. you also serve to eliminate 95% of the suitable ones as well. As for the remainder? Like I said, what is wrong with them? Are they on an ego trip themselves perhaps? I do not know, but I can imagine.

I did not say she should change. I could care less if she does or does not. I merely said that her profile does not rock the way she thinks it does IMHO and that it should not be recommended as a template. she can keep her nose in the air until it seizes that way for all I care. That is her business.

I recently emailed someone just to say hi and introduce myself and the reply I got was "ur profil wz to long to read".

I get stuff like that from boys all the time. They message me and in doing so do things that are direct contradictions to what I say in my profile and when I tell them that they obviously haven't read my profile, they say it's too long. I wonder how these impatient boys would deal with overnight bondage or a month of chastity! Patience is a virtue!

You are still assuming that by using a capital "M" in "My" that means you *are* a "Master."
You aren't my "Master," and you aren't the "Master" of a lot of people who read what you write.
And, I guess I don't need to point out that you use it as a sign of respect to other "Masters" --- not "Mistresses." Guess the ladies don't count?

You are essentially a Master in your own mind. I think that about sums it up.

Thanks. I think so too.

I don't know why Ken is so intent on suggesting that my profile can't attract smart wonderful amazing men and women, because it certainly does. If you want to come to the MD area I'd love to have you meet some of them so you can make that judgement on your own.

It really is a sweet attempt at a tautology he's got set up though- intelligent stable people aren't attracted to my profile. Therefore, any person I attract must not be intelligent or stable.

Or if you are going to Leather Retreat, there will be 6 of us from "the family" there.

lol. That was a slight you picked up on. Of course I meant both and I have sufficiently proven that. Further, I am not a Master to ANYONE apart from My own sub, nor do I wish to be. There is no inference to the contrary in anything I have ever written here at collarme.com.

Now, I have a computer that I am servicing that is really ticking Me off, so I must run. Ciao for now.
