I think people try to simplify complicated things to make it easier to understand, and (over)complicate simplistic things to make it more difficult or sound impressive....

Too many times people follow a routine or ritual that follows you have to do this this and then this. Often this is because they were taught this is the way its done.....and they take it for gospel...

all rituals aren't bad, and some customs, including ones like collaring have a reason for them.....
