Hmmm....I doubt for legal and copywrite reasons you could use this. but here's my submission ..."Watterson Revisted"

Of course, please don't take this as me insulting you or the publisher...it worked for Watterson, to the tune of what, 18 months and in how many newspapers? Yet when he returned to writing new material, popularity only went higher.

Best of luck to you, and though I do show my impudence in these threads from time to time, this is an honest and serious submission.

Thank you for looking at my entry,
Robert

(edited for spelling)

Would you be offended it I changed it on my list to "Eckhart Revisited" -- since my name is not Watterson but I think I understand the gist of your suggestion.

"Buy My Book Or I'll Beat the Crap Out of You!" by Tammy Jo

"Intriguing Torment"

"Last One Out Unlocks the Handcuffs"

"It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This"

"Hurting the One You Love" (might actually be used...not sure)

"The Dominant's Beat"

Thank you, Sarbon, for your suggestions. They have been added to my list.

I plan to start making the decision tomorrow and had a decision made by the end of the weekend.

Duly added to my list.

I personally like, although long:

Erotic Musings of a Lifestyle Dominant Woman
I would then ask the publisher to insert slightly different color pages or a color boarder around pages in sections which will be like journal entries, so to speak about your life. You have an interesting life and if you take some special occurrences, embellish them, it gives the reader an inside peek of into the mind of the author. People love that.

That's a very interesting idea. I planned to have an introduction at the start, as I usually do, but perhaps it might be better after each story or before each?

Thanks again, Dianna.

Yes a journal within brings a whole new level to the project. In your introduction you have a bio about your life which in itself is good reading. The journal shows your state of mind while the fiction shows the complexity of your creativity.

If your publisher does color these pages then it will be tricky binding it after every story. There could be two well defined sections and then publish your works chronologically, so to speak. For instance you have a collection of works over a certain time period, right? Thats section one. That section has its own journal. Now I would not suspect you to remember each detail of what happened in that time frame but knowing you, as I know you, I would suspect you have a general idea of the events that happened during that time when you wrote those works. So maybe ...

Spring 2000 - I just got a new slave. My husband, Fox, likes him... (this is just an example)

Fall 1999 - I enjoy going to the munches and meeting new people. I met this interesting woman.. blah blah

Of course no one wants to hear about you doing laundry, as you know or things that are only interesting to you, if you know what I mean.

I think you're going to a great job and I am one of your supporters, as you know.

*smile*

One big down side to any color on pages is cost -- the price of the book will go up. Given this is a small independent press the books tends to be more expensive than the standard mass market size. But the paper is higher quality so I try to tell buyers it is worth the extra dollars -- honestly I don't know that much about it.

This is actually an issue I need to address with my academic printer on Monday for the student manual I've written for the fall. I think colored section pages will make it more user friendly but I need to balance that with added cost. Anyhoo....

I'll have to think more about putting my thoughts in about the stories. They will be in general chronological order though "Punishment for the Crime" and "Justice will be back to back because the stories are deeply interconnected - same characters set just a few months apart.

As I reread these stories I realize just how dark they are. Damn, what does that say about me? Guess I can be dark in fantasy when I'm a super consent freak in real life.

Based on your comments above...

Fantasies from the Dark Side:
The Collected Erotica of TammyJo

Random suggestions...
Fantasies For Your Head
The Stories Your Mother Told You Not to Read
Scenes From Behind the Closed Door
Fetish Tales For Discriminating Minds

You said you'll be including, Captain's Gaze, Punishment for the Crime, and Justice.
How about playing off their titles (lots of permutations possible)...
Justice for the Captain's Crime
Punishment, Justice and the Captain's Gaze
The Captain, the Crime, and Other Erotica

If you have poetry in your collection:
Rhyme & Punishment

Is there a thread that ties the stories together?  Are they all in the same genre?  FemDom?  Fetish?  Fantasy?  SciFi?

Thanks for more suggestions, Petronius.

Of course given your name here I have to ask: Do you have a classical education or background by any chance?

(always looking for a good slave secretary with a background in ancient history or classics)

A classical background? Only enough to locate the real Roman scenes in the movie Caligula and identify others as Hollywood hype because even Penthouse couldn't show the real Roman kink in an x-rated film.

Looking for a slave with a background in ancient history or classics? Aren't we all!

Because the out of print books are different the stories are different, that's part of what has made the title search so difficult. That said: No more suggestions please. I have going on 3 pages of suggestions and now I need to start to seriously think through them. I will have one picked by Monday night.

My yahoogroup and various meatlife friends have helped me pick the last story so here is the list for anyone who has read some of these.

"Punishment for the Crime" and "Justice" -- put together because they are a two-parter; set in a fragmented USA where parts of the 13th amendment are being enforced in extreme ways as two sisters via for political and military control of the region

"Journey Unto Warrior" -- the Amazon piece that examines adulthood rites of passage from the Amazon view and the unfortunate (or fortunate) Greeks whose own rites are interrupted. The least tragic piece of that collection.

"Captain's Gaze" -- a science fiction/space ship piece from a charity cause that I now have returned rights to; it examines what happens when the voyeur is noticed and becomes watched in return

"Doll" -- a new vampire piece that looks at how absolute power does not negate the need to also use manipulation and how the view of the dynamics of a relationship can be quite different from one person to the next

This plus any comments I make will certainly get me to my word limit. Yeah, my short stories, not so "short".

Thank you everyone.

*HUG*

I'm always surprised when I find anyone with a classical background in the DS community. It seems more a place for folks into Victorian models or interests or fiction generated interests.

It's always a pleasant surprise.

It was a fun activity to participate in - thanks for including us.

thetammyjo -> RE: Looking for Suggestions -- Free book possible (7/15/2007 3:22:56 PM)

And the winner is:

hereyesruponyou with the suggested title "Sweet Memories of Pain (and the Future of Pleasure).

I've slightly modified it after running all 3+ pages of suggestions past my friends, family, and other writers whose opinions I trust so that it is "Sweet Memories of Pain & the Future of Pleasure".

I choose this for several reasons primarily because collectively everyone felt it conveyed the sense what what was included on a few levels (old stories, stories set in the past, new stories, stories set in the future) as well as the fact that every piece is about both pain and pleasure. The title also needed to be serious but enticing.

hereyesruponyou please send me an email so we can work out who I should said a signed copy of the book to when it comes out.

Absolutely no offense at all.  It would be great, simple, honest, and letting people know, new material is on the way.

For those who don't know Watterson, google him, you Calvin and Hobbes fans will say, "oh yeah!"  He went on hiatus, and the newspapers that carried his comic had to decide dropping C & H or doing reruns of the strip.  The smart papers kept it running.  He took a big risk (it was an extended amount of time) and some say his ego overunneth.  True fans know that the wait was worth it.

I hope all of your fans feel the same.  Good Luck!!
