Mom wasn't the one to give much advice my father was but few things she did let slip out were...

It's just as easy to love a rich man as it is to love a poor man.

my dad's advice was similar: "Don't listen to your mother"

My mother's best, and far most disturbing advice came when I got married. And it came with a joke gift, which to this day I still have.

Moms advice:
Make sure he thinks he is doing a good job, well, you know... in bed. Say no, sometiems, to make him want it more. And when you dont want to bother with him, buy a vibrator or two. It'll keep you sane.

And for my wedding gift, knowing how much she hated my exhusband, i got stock in Duracell.

Mom never gave advice but Dad did, he was a roofer and his favorite was

 rather safe then sorry......... (good advice for the lifestyle too)

Hmm, I never really got advice from mom.  Mostly I just did what I thought was right and when she said something like "what's wrong with you?" or "I thought we raised you better then that"  I knew to do something else.

Always put salt in the water when you boil potatoes, otherwise they taste discusting no matter how much salt you use later.
