I have this problem too, so I have to be careful what I choose. Softer scents are not too bad, but nothing strong and overpowering.

It's easier to list what I don't like:

Cigarrette smell
Baby powder/lotion/whatever. This actually can make me nauseous.
Most vanilla scents.
Foot odor
Sweat
Really strong BO
Bad breath
Wet dog smell
Smelling like your apartment/house that reeks of dirty dishes, pets and laundry that hasn't been washed in three months.

I make homemade soaps that I use, I normally prefer vanilla or lavander, but I make them myself so its a really mild smell, I really hate any scent that is overpowering. My husband seems to like them...often comments if I use something else. Cigarette smoke on anyone is a really big turn off to me.

On him, I really love the smell of Irish spring sport soap...not sure why, just a smell I really like.

Grlwithboy -> RE: dumb question.... (7/12/2007 8:08:22 AM)

I like it when girls and girly boys aren't afraid of a little scent, whether it's a classic commercial one or a DIY concoction of essential oil goodness.

If you're butch, be butch, soap and you is perfect.

Trampler -> RE: dumb question.... (7/12/2007 8:38:08 AM)

I go with the general consensous and say overpowering smells on anybody is nausiating.  Most vanilla scents I don't like. However I LOVE Warm Vanilla Sugar!  seems like everytime I find a scent I love, B&B Works discontinues it. grrrrrrr.  I used to use Victoria Secrets lotions, but most of theirs got 2 sweet and cloying.

On men, light pine or citrus smells.  Lately at work, alot of guys have been coming in wearing really heavy cologne. I feel like telling them that by wearing it will attract bees and flies.

Trampler -> RE: dumb question.... (7/12/2007 8:41:58 AM)

Actually, a butch that I met years ago, (she was really cute ;)) she had on a mens cologne that smelled so good, it turned me on.  She said if she didn't have a girlfriend she would take me home. I was tempted to beg. lol

Not a dumb question. Scent is important!

NYGHTVISIONS -> RE: dumb question.... (7/12/2007 8:51:34 AM)

Master is allergic to heavy scents and usually prefers the clean-shower smell. However, His favorite scents are jasmine and lavendar. I love Bath & Body Works and they have a Night Blooming Jasmine scent that i will spray on occassionally. I used to use their Warm Vanilla Sugar but he says i smelled like a cookie lol! B&BW also has a jasmine and yling yling (i think) combo in their aromatherapy line that i loved but it made Him sneeze.

CreativeDominant -> RE: dumb question.... (7/12/2007 4:24:15 PM)

I like a submissive to smell clean and just lightly of fragrance.  I cannot stand what I term heavy smells...(My ex tried Musk one time...I thought my head was never going to get "unstuffed") nor the overly fruity smells (too much of a "little girl" indication and that only works at certain times).

Mystique567 -> RE: dumb question.... (7/13/2007 8:56:38 PM)

I have issues with scents as well, I prefer something light and natural, if anything at all

hana20 -> RE: dumb question.... (7/14/2007 4:47:34 AM)

my Master wants me just clean and fresh, but i usually use a body lotionwith vanilla flavour.

libbiez -> RE: dumb question.... (7/15/2007 10:28:03 AM)

imthatacheyouhav -> RE: dumb question.... (7/15/2007 10:44:29 AM)
