Perhaps it is just key pieces of information that he can't say where they came from.

Yeah, that's why I called them "some of the controversial elements".  Certainly not the entire site.  Sorry if I wasn't specific enough.

MasterNdorei, Castlerelm was constructed before Jade's death and has many postings from her.  The site continues to be maintained.

Thank you Maiden1971. :)  i knew there was an answer in there somewhere...

Thank you to the rest of you who answered in a sideways kind of way.

At some point i talked to a friend of Lord Colm's too... back in the days of aol by the hour or some some such agreement. i remember the impression i got was that He did not think what He had with jade was the only acceptable dynamic, i think He was already in another relationship if memory serves... one that was very different.

Does anyone know, was the site constructed before or after jade's death?

I remember when Lord Colm and jade were building and maintaining the site together. jade was very much alive and participated in online chats on IRC. I was fortunate enough to participate in a couple of those chats waaaay back when, and her death hit Me hard because I loved the spirit in everything she wrote.

Yes, Castlerealm sounds like a fantasy to some in the lifestyle, but in My life it is very much a reality. Cubby is My "jade" and does everything with heart and spirit, and I am very very fortunate to have him. I do know that Castlerealm isn't for everyone, because some people don't want a more romantic approach to D/s. If casual integration of power is your thing, great. If leather is your thing, great. If S&M is your thing, wonderful....

It never ceases to amaze Me that people don't visit a auto sales website to find tips on car repair, but they blast Castlerealm because it only represents a portion of the D/s lifestyle and not every aspect of it. ~sheesh~

After years of reading the late Leonard Dworkin's Prometheus magazine and Boudoir Noir, I saw references to Castle Realm there.  I believe it's given people an opportunity to learn and I think it's needed.  I think MOST similar sites are good for that but it's really our individual journeys that define us.

My introduction to BDSM was also through Castlerealm, and I still recommend that people look at it, along with several other sites I recommend - including the CollarMe Message Boards. We all have to start somewhere. It also helps to have some idea of what other people might have read, and be basing their BDSM journey on. It is naive to think that we come to D/s ready made. We are shaped by the things that we read and experience. The first munch I attended disabused me of the notion that everyone else lived out a Castlerealm dynamic.

Seriously, love or hate castlerealm, you have to realize its just one site, that has one woman's opinion on an entire lifestyle. There are millions of other websites out there that are nothing more than one person's outlook on the lifestyle. I say take a look around and compare notes. One site shouldn't be the end all, be all book on BDSM. I think castlerealm is a lovely site and one of my many many book marks.

If you feel you can do a better site, please do so.

Those who can...do. Those who can't..bitch.
