*yes, this is long ... but oh well LOL* I got asked out at work tonight. That doesn't happen to me very often - I get propositioned in other ways, I get begged, I get some of the strangest offers from some of the strangest people ... but I very rarely get asked out on a date. Normally I do the asking. So anyway, background on the guy: He's one of the C.O.s at the jail, he works down in bookout, so I don't see him often, but when I do, there is a lot of interaction. His name starts with "S" so from now on, that's what I'll call him. S often brings up the inmates that have been brought in from other facilities for court or whatever, along with any meds that come with them, so when he does come up, he spends quite a bit of time up in the clinic. I have noticed lately that the other C.O. down there doesn't come up much anymore (the first 2 weeks or so that I worked, they both came up equally ... not anymore). He (and the other C.O.) has a history of being kinda mean to the medical staff, and I have already threatened both with bodily harm. The last time that S was up in the clinic (before today), I found out that the last prank was pulled by the other C.O. and I said something about how I had my plans ready to seriously hurt him for it ... S's reply was "why waste the effort on him, I'd enjoy it more." No big deal, I've heard guys joke about that before ... but well, this is a recurring theme with S and me. Tonight, he called and told us that we had 8 intakes. No big deal, I told the C.O. that was staying in the clinic to have them brought up ASAP and I would take care of them before dressing changes. Well, then the Feds dropped off a 9th. Then we had a guy having a heart attack and a chick having a seizure, so things got delayed. When I was just getting ready to go pass meds at the annex at 8 (a little early, for the record, but I had to get it done so that I could do the dressing changes ... which I hadn't even started yet), S calls and says that the Feds dropped off another intake, could I do it. I felt really bad, but I told him no. He appologised for bothering me when we were so busy (another recurring theme with S and me) and he'd just have the guy wait until night shift. I go to the annex, come back, start dressing changes at 9 (really really fucking late ... and dammitall if we didn't have more emergencies while I was trying to do it). At 9:30, S calls again and says that the intake just told him that he's a diabetic, which means that we have to do the intake ... now. So S brings up the intake. I was in the middle of dressing changes still, so I'm working on those while chatting with the C.O.s that brought the inmates, and S said some smart-assed remark, and my typical answer came out before I could stop myself "don't make me beat you boy" - his eyes lit up and his reply was "ooh, promise you will?" So then he started talking about how I would be waiting in the parking garage with a baseball bat to beat him with. I honestly can't remember what I said at that point - probably something about how our shifts are staggered so I wouldnt' be out there until an hour after he left, but he started talking about his collection of weapons that he has taken off of people, and the baseball bat that he carries in his car that is modified (padding so that it still hurts and does damage, but doesn't leave marks ... sounds like something Holly's dad would own). After awhile of this, I had finished the dressing change that I was working on when he came up, I did the intake, and finally walked over to him, pulled his ear to my mouth and whispered to him, "actually, I prefer using floggers ... that's what I have in MY collection." He asked (by writing it down so that no one would see/hear what we were talking about) if I had a riding crop ... my reply "not yet, keyword being yet" ... The other C.O.s decided they didn't want to know and starting playing on the computer LOL So fast foward to 10:40, about an hour before my shift is over, and 10 min after his was over, he called the clinic. I had no idea who he was, cuz I didn't know his name at the time (yeah, I know ... I'm bad), and I'm sure he was confused too, cuz I didn't say anything to him. He finally figured out that I was still busy (still doing those damned dressing changes), and told me that he had wanted to give me his phone number, but that with the inmates there, he didn't want to give it to me that bad LOL Then he said something about "if you ever want to, you know, hang out or something - you can e-mail me through the network here, my name is S**********, and I make sure and check it regularly." It was sooo cute. I really hope that he didn't think that I was laughing at him, but I couldn't help but start giggling - my day had been pretty shitty up until that point, and he just made my day (and yes, when I see him tomorrow, I'll tell him ... I did make sure that he works tomorrow night too )
