You know, I generally stay out of political threads. And I will not take sides here. But I just wanted to simply point out the simple fact that Bin Laden wasn't even "the original reason America went there in the first place". Remember? We went there because the White House, Pentagon, and CIA convinced Congress (and arguably the majority of Americans) that Sadam had "weapons of mass destruction". Bin Laden had absolutely nothing to do with it (originally). It wasn't until it was apparent that WoMDs would not be found that the government then began linking Bin Laden to Iraq.

I am not in support of the war in Afghanistan on the face of it, but if somebody can provide some intelligent
reason why we are shooting cruise missiles at goat farmers I am willing to listen.  But then, I am a historian and I read books, and I saw what attempting to occupy Afghanistan did to the former Soviet Union.

I hope it works out for you Afghanistan war supporters; history suggests it will not.

Bin Laden and the terrorist network has been effectively neutralized and Bin Laden is either no longer there or
cannot be found.
