For the most part, yes I am happy.  I'm having a lot of trouble adjusting to an empty nest, that's my biggest challenge right now.

I am happy sometimes..when I'm spending time with friends or family....I have my good days as well as my bad ones, just like everyone else I suppose.

One year.  But this is the first summer that both of my boys have been away, so it's traumatic and lonely and shows me that I don't have enough going on in my personal life (as in...I need to get out more)

30% happy.
70% unhappy.

The whys on the 70%:
I can't get my house pulled together to put it on the market.
I have to sell my house (1800 sq ft, over 5 acres of perfection) because I can't physically maintain it & IT'S NOT FAIR CUZ I LOVE MY HOME. Dang it.
I am lonely.
My health status.
My dom is too far away!

The whys on the 30%:
I'm an eternal optimist who believes that if one does good, eventually one will receive good.

I have a fully functioning brain, and despite the body I can still do some things I love.
My dom loves me & I will be moving to him when I do manage to get my house fixed up and sold.
I'm at the best age, I dreaded the early 40's but the reality is that I see the world in an entirely different way as well as myself. There is a freedom with being this age that I never anticipated and ohgosh it is awesome!

If it weren't for my health I am pretty sure the balance would be changed to 70% happy.

BTW I choose the 'happy when Level posts'!  Have a nanner and enjoy the day.

Camille....won't a room mate solve your problems?  You could look for someone who can help take care of things that you aren't able to and you could negotiate that into their rent.  It would kill me to part with my home, mainly because I would never be able to find a place with a lower mortgage payment...I am glued to my spot.

I think it would be more accurate to say that I am relatively satisfied.  No one can be happy all the time.  Of course, you could say the same thing about being satisfied but that is why I qualified my statement with the word "relatively".

The answer to "why, or why not" would depend upon whether I want to be positive or negative.  I prefer a balance as I think it's realistic... besides, those folks who are incessantly "chipper" annoy me.

So, my realistic take is that I like who I am, I like who I'm with, I like what I do and I like where I'm going.  Of course, there are things here and there that could be better and I certainly do get irritated at times, but those things just give me room to grow.

I wish there was a way to help with the house, jenny (or do you now prefer camille?).

Health is sooooooo important. I was sitting at the local high school earlier, watching the kids as they put together a garage sale to raise funds, and thinking about how I'd give anything to go back in time, to develop better health habits. Well, wish in one hand, poop in the other, see which one fills up the quickest

Good is returned with good. Don't doubt that.

Good answer, lt.

And what's wrong with those chipper-ites, anyway?

I am very happy. That being said I don't view happy as the whole annoying, bubbly or chipper, thing either. For me it goes much deeper. A core sense of peace and happiness that all of life's BS cannot touch.

Heyas Katy  and good morning to ya!
I tried the roomie thing last year. A woman I had known online for some years, she lived in New Orleans and had to move due to Katrina. So... I offered her my home. I had just just gotten divorced and was recovering from some nasty surgery so I needed someone here. I didn't ask for rent for the first 6 months, just that she take care of house and run errands. She ended up sleeping all night/day and was a very very heavy drinker. End result.. the house was never clean and after 12 months I kicked her out because she refused to get a job/ unable to pay the $350.00 rent I asked for once the 6 months were up.
I regret it, but I don't regret giving her a place so that she could get back on her feet. It ended with pretty bad feelings all around and cost us our friendship. Even though it ended badly I am glad she was here, honestly I don't think I would have made it through the winter without her meager help.

I live in the boondocks and most people prefer to live close to their work for some odd reason  hehehe.

I'm more than willing to try again but can't find anyone that wants to live out here. I keep seeing male subs wanting to be houseboys.. maybe one of them will offer eh? Hmmm actually that'd be pretty nice LOL.

Level.. I will answer to either nick. Camille is my middle name, Jennifer my first. Soooo cj, jenny, camille all work  .

Yes, Level I need to get out more.  Believe it or not, I am extremely shy in real life.  And by the time I finish the two job work week, I sometimes just want to be a lazy ass on the weekend, or at least one day of the weekend.  I view it as recharging for the next week's onslaught.  I'm good at making excuses too.

Hi Level

I  have a baseline contentedness.  Perhaps i am not in a place that i would have chosen, say, ten  years ago, but i find it is the best place for me now.

I have my children and grandchildren nearby..  My health is not the best, but i am able to work part time.

I save the word "happy" for those fleeting moments of bliss and think contentedness is just wonderful.

I smile more than i don't .. what more could i want ?

reticence
