I like Collarme.com very much. I have met many nice, interesting people here and I think that it is full of genuine people. Lately I’ve decided to expand my search for a sub/slave to other web sites. Alt.com seems to be a popular site that claims to be the “world’s largest BDSM & alternative lifestyle personals”. Their fees also seem to be the world’s largest as well. Has anyone here tried Alt.com? If so, please give me your opinion on the site. Is it worth the money? Are there a lot of genuine people on that site or is it just another home for people who try to separate others from their money.

I have a profile there as well as here and on AFF. Personally I wont pay for either of them. I do enjoy the chatrooms on AFF though.

I have Alt.com but I'm not very happy with it. I think you can meet people on it, but I feel that the people here are much more real. In general I like this site alot more.

i had an account on AFF (which btw is where Daddy found me) however it wasn't the place for me. too many married as well as singles playing "dom" to pick up women. i've met more sickos on that site than i do here.

however that's my opinion, the final decision in joining that site or not is up to you.

I agree w/ this statement. Im also on alt............but there..........it seems like more people are looking for "sex" than BDSM "play".

Used to be 'there' for years. Paid for it, and the whole bit. Met a lot of really disappointing people there. That's not because they were not really interested, they just weren't what I was looking for.

Once I noticed that someone was putting up duplicate ads with different pictures from various parts of the country, I realized that it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be (as a dating site).

I had spent a little time in the chatrooms there, and they were decent. Too 'insular' in my opinion, but that's true of chatrooms anywhere.

I just got one of the "free" Alt accounts last week...because a friend of my husbands mentioned something about getting alot of emails from people on Alt...Ok..this was amajor shock to me that this guy even knew what alt.com was...nevermind having a profile on it...so I joined wanting to hunt down his profile and see what it says..I was rather disapointed in the search capabilites of alt.com.....you have to pay to even search, so I was upset since it says "join now for free"...dont really like things that arent what they say...

I'm currently a paid member of ALT. I wish I had known about CollarMe prior to me paying the bucks over at ALT, for if I did, they wouldn't have received my money.

A Standard Member (one that pays nothing) cannot view photos other than thumbnails. They cannot view complete profiles. They cannot initiate email messages to other members. They can, however, send "winks" (ALT's method of expressing interest to another). They can respond by ALT mail to a message they've received from another.

ALT has a tendency to be heavy-handed at times with regards to private messages sent between and among members. They will strictly enforce their policies of not allowing anyone to give out their personal contact info, within the first two complete message exchange cycles, by editing such information out of messages and replacing it with a generic statement. For example, a person who contacted me over there sent in their message:

"... tell me about yourself with a message to [email protected]."

The way I received the message was:

"... tell me about yourself with a message to my other email."

Of course, had I not already known that particular contact's "other email," I could have been stuck using ALT's mail system for at least the first two message exchanges. Now, whether the editing, in this case, is done electronically or by way of human eyeballs and manual correction I don't know.

Overall, my general impression of the environment of ALT vs. that of CollarMe is that the former is definitely set up as a commercial dating site whereas CM seems to have a more community minded spirit. I'm sure that the mix of sex-hounds vs. lifestylers is about the same in both places. In my experience with ALT, I've been contacted more by those who are looking for a quick, immediate scene than those willing to take the time to become familiar before jumping into the harnesses.

Is ALT worth the money? I don't know. Ultimately, it would depend upon what you're looking for.

Hope my 2¢ (two cents US) is worth something.

Alt is like here, with less wheat and more chaff. For me, as someone who just wanted to fuck around 5 years ago, it was a fine place to start off. Someone mentioned this site in 2005 to me, and when I looked at it, it seemed too serious -- the whole collaring thing. I think of alt as my training wheels.

There are more people who are looking for kinky sex rather than BDSM. If you are a man, it's almost a guarantee that you will have to pay for a membership to contact other members (as a woman, because I got more hits on my profile, I could send messages -- free worked). They allow a greater variety of pictures, so about 1/4 - 1/3 of men post cock pictures. That won't affect you directly, but most women do not like cock pictures, so it contributes to the jadedness. The message boards aren's as robust over there.

I met some interesting folks there (though they also have profiles here). I keep my account there and check in every few weeks, but I'm really not missing anything.

We were on alt for more thana few years as paying members but quit about 5 years ago. We hated the lack of integrity and customer service there and actually found the people there more likely to be dishonest and misleading.... not all for sure but a larger percentage.

We have been spending time on bondage.com since then but now the same owners from alt (various, inc) have bought bondage and it has fallen in a heap technically and the customer support has gone from good to poor in very short time.

The forums on bondage are better laid out and have many excellent posters, we hope we can get the hang of this format and participate here more, collarme looks to be the place we will be spending more time for the future...

i had over 100 messages within the first 24hrs of my joining AFF - about 95% of those responding ended up being deleted because they either weren't what i was looking for or didn't bother to read my profile. mention having DDs and everyone wants to jump on you immediately ...i mean men were stupid enough to send me all their contact info (including home/work/mobile numbers and home address) in the 1st message! the other 3% were merely play "doms" with very sick ideas like taking me to a motel for a little bondage and rape with a group of buddies over a 3 day weekend (that was suppose to be my first meeting with this guy) ...the only decent person i've met there was Daddy.

I come to CollarMe for the boards more than the personals. So there isn't much point in going back to alt.com. I haven't been to their site in several years. Don't miss it.

I had HORRIBLE experiences with alt. the men were awful, and the woman were very "catty".....I'm SO glad i found this site. I found my Master here...and for that i will ALWAYS be grateful.
