I was was watching a program where they were discussing current dating. What always takes me aback is the expectation of sex on the first date. After that, what's left? Have we become so emotionally handicapped we can no longer hold a conversation or just enjoy another person's company (outside the bedroom/back seat of the car) My dating days terminated in the very early '70's (got married)~ what's it like out there these days?

I think people just want sex, but always need a REASON for it. Because sex is so repressed, we can't simply HAVE it and ENJOY it for what it is. So when we finally have ANY shred of an excuse for it, we leap.

i recently had an occurance where sex waited til the 2nd date.... that was HUGE to me... that he was able to wait it out that long... it was exciting to see a "patient" boy oh goodness... what is this world comming to

Sex is a strong biological drive. You need to realize going into this that not everyone shares your values regarding sex and when it is right to indulge. And it's okay that they don't. Plenty of people enjoy each other's company without sex, many also enjoy it with sex. To each their own. I've heard that there is a third date rule.... [8D]

[8D] I had a third month rule :) (That still didn't stop me getting 3 marriage proposals). I also always offered to go dutch on dates to offset the "hey, I bought you dinner and movie~ what gives?" It took any pressure off me and off the date. It's good to know we still can enjoy each other without agendas.

As we grow older we usually seek more than just a romp...It is much better if there is an underlying connection....But then again sometimes a good ol' fashioned fucking really hits the spot.

What's dating like now ? Usually you get to a bar that gets too rowdy, too loud or has a live band. You barely can place your order. Then you get out to the car for part two of the conversation. Tell you the truth Women, I would rather come meet you on your front porch, bring me some beer and you your favorite apartif and maybe some food and even some mother nature. I need no music at all, no noise. Maybe later but not right now. In my view, entertainment has replaced communication. I think communication should BE the entertainment. People used to talk, get to know one another. Perhaps they fired up the old Grundig from time to time, but they talked. Things have changed. A movie used to be a lot shorter and cheaper. You had more time before and after. Dates didn't entail bars as much fifty years ago. There were some concerts of course, but there was just less of it. There was less of everything it seems, but somehow we had more. T
