Unfortunately, I would say that even if your online relationship isn't over at this point, it may be in trouble. People make time for the things that are priority in their lives. The fact that the other person is so close yet doesn't want to meet would make me concerned as well. Was the deal that this was an online relationship only from the start?

How long you choose to wait has to be your decision, there aren't any rules. The one online relationship I was involved in (and I did have some concerns just starting it) had a break of several months. He eventually re-established contact, but it's not the same relationship, a lot of trust is missing.

No one gets involved in a relationship expecting it is going to end, you always hope for the best. I hope you'll be back in contact with your partner. If this is time to move on, however, I wish you a lot of strength in doing that, and hope you'll find other rewarding relationships.

~ cough ~ Q's butting in here where she doesn't belong......... <shrug >
after reading the OP it brought a few things to mind for me.
although i don't *do* online (sexually), i do chat, form relationships online that are special to me just like i assume many of us here do. online is a form of communication, and depending on the content for some a form of gratification. a bond forms regardless imho, Alienmindsinc or who ever finds that their friend has
disappeared suffers a separation, and as unreal as online is, that separation is very real. one of the evils of online our mothers didn't know to tell us about since we are here testing this new version. so do we avoid the possibility of forming a bond cause we've realized online isn't real? do we assume a disappearance is simply the other quit the game? or do we let the bond form, add value and find true concern when one disappears? i agree meeting RT is preferable but how can RT be with limited access? now i may have missed the OP mentioning a telephone. but if he has taken that option and still gotten no results there is obviously a problem in communication or intent.
Alienmindsinc, i wish you luck. . . . .
