ORIGINAL: SeeksOnlyOne the circle of lifes peculiar some days aint it? First of all : Congrats on the new doggie. And congrats to the new doggie who has a loving home and is out of the shelter. Last year I had to put my kitty of 19 years down due to lung cancer. A few years before he died, I knew he was getting up in years and I thought I should get another kitty to ease my grief when the day finally came that I would lose him. So I did. It didn't help one bit. Handsome Boy < his name> was the light of my life and mycompanion thru many years of joy and pain. Don't get me wrong, I love the little girl, but it didn't help me as I had planned. Anyhow... everyone told me I should get a new cat right after I put Handsome down. I just couldn't, it felt wrong. I knew I would get another one day, but not soon. Well, two weeks later a scrawny, sad cat appeared on my porch one night, hooped up on my kitchen sill and was peeping in the window at me. She was obviously hungry and a stray. I went out to the porch and got her a bowl of food and some H2O, she attacked it, then hopped up in my lap and purred louder than I have ever heard a cat purr. It was pretty evident that she wasn't a stray at all, but a " dump off ". She stayed on my porch from that day forward and I fed her, brushed her and pet her. I asked around the condo complex if any one knew whose cat she was and no one did. I asked the neighbors and no one knew. So I took her to the Vet and had her tested for Fe Luek and FIV, all neg. The vet told me she was spayed and he couldn't determine her exact age, but that she was an "older teenager". She is now mine, despite not having wanted another cat, and she is the queen of the house. The younger one annoys her sometimes, because she wants to play, but when they both come out when I garden they are like peas in a pod. They both have a place when I am in my chair, the younger on my neck like a parrot and the older on my lap. Even tho I didn't think I wanted another cat right away, some one knew better and made the decision of when for me. Even tho I will only have her a few years, due to her age, I am grateful she came along when she did. So, yes......the circle of lifes peculiar some days aint it? And a blessing to boot. mbmbn
