I guess walking is not a must to be a Dom. I would imagine there would be some physical compromises, but being a Dom is mostly mental anyway. It could be that some subs just couldn't submit to a Dom in a wheelchair.

Mystique567 -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/19/2007 8:35:01 PM)

I do believe that while kneeling someone sitting is still over you.

I have a very wonderful Dom friend who can command anything he wishes from his chair.

BTW he calls it his portable throne.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/19/2007 11:08:41 PM)

Well, my Master dominates me with his mind, not his legs.

slaveofKaos -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/19/2007 11:34:58 PM)

I dont think it makes a difference at all, it's just as much mental as it is physical and I don't see why a dominant in a wheelchair cant't do both.

I believe if two people really want the dynamic to work nothing will stand in there way wheelchair or otherwise.

MissOchistic -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/20/2007 12:39:13 AM)

Hmm, it really depends.

Are they totally independant, about it, and have learned to compensate using the rest of their body and devices so they can get around without help and shit? Yes? Than I see no difference and it's fine with me.

Do they need help being transferred from chair to bed and such, with dressing, possibly catheters and other medical issues? Yes? Than I have several new ways to care for someone I love, and that's fine with me.

The important thing is their attitude. Sometimes a person put into a wheelchair, especially by an accident in adulthood, has a big sense of pride and won't accept help when they need it. This can cause a lot of problems and tension in relationships. But as long as the Dom was able to accept his condition and learn to deal with it, and not peeing all over the place because he won't let me help him or hire a nurse and he can't do it right, there wouldn't be an issue for me.

Dominance is an attitude not an ability to stand...... but I did laugh at the comment about instead of being trampled you could be run over. Interesting marks!!!

I think I just found my fetish...... YAY!

adoracat -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/20/2007 8:22:11 AM)

my first Dominant ended up needing to use the wheelchair, and being cared for all the time.  i did that, it was part of my service to him.  it didnt lessen the relationship any, nor did i lose any respect for him till he overstepped a hard limit, and i uncollared.

however.  i did not stop loving him, i did not stop serving him, i did not stop caring for him emotionally and physically.  i just couldnt give him total trust any longer.

kitten.....who is in reflection mode today....

salilus -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/20/2007 8:35:01 PM)

The first person that spanked and paddled me was blind.

He was much more 'acceptable' than a... couple... of the other people I've met in bdsm-land who didn't have any disabilities. So, I'm guessing it's all a matter of opinion.

winterlight -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/20/2007 11:51:29 PM)

anybody that doesn't like somebody because of their dis(Ability), race, religion, politics or any other reason deserves to have somebody back over em. with their wheelchair... j/k
Seriously why should lack of legs, arms, feet, toes (you get the idea) hamper you and whom u are. If somebody has a problem with that they are the ones with the disability not u...They have a closed mind....

windchymes -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/21/2007 5:00:17 AM)

Just to play devil's advocate here, what would the reaction be if we all came in here and said, "No!  No, a Dom in a wheelchair is just not acceptable!!!"   Now what?

bandit25 -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/21/2007 5:14:39 AM)

You just said what I have been thinking for a very long time.

BossySSBBW -> RE: Is this acceptable? (7/21/2007 9:46:18 AM)

Makes it hard to use a strap on......lol.   Unless the sub is sitting on you.  I have had a number of people to contact me and I say upfront in my profile I am in a wheelchair full time.  Oh yeah, I can't have a sub lap sitting either since I am fat and have a large belly...LOL.   Haven't had any complaints with my hand held skills though.

I am sure that it would flame the entire thread and the CM world all know about it, it really doesn't matter who would say it, because at the end of the day I submit to the one that, walking or not, puts me in that place I need to be. My requirements are not the same as yours, not better or worse, just not the same.

A dominant in a wheelchair? GADS...almost as unacceptable as a redhead dominant or a dominant with a disproportionally long second toe.

grinning

well speaking up for the red headed long toed Domminant women,
we do exist and do not make the mistake of thinking we are weak or inferior.
That statement is about as ignorant as having sex standing,
up so you don't get pregnant.

I think it would be a cool new dynamic.. instead of trampling you could be run over.

LOL...and leave skid marks!
To me the most powerful aspect of domination is the mental control....being in a wheelchair would have nothing to do with someone being a successful Dom.

how acceptable is some one in a wheelchair as a Dominant?

i didn't know BDSM is solely for the abled-bodied, non-mentally challenged people.

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

you're right up there with those who enjoy messaging me that i'm ugly and that D/s is for the beautifully attractive people.

Completely. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
I had a friend who was a Domme, and wheelchair bound from birth.  She had incredible upper body strenght, by necessity. Her slave boys would carry her in their arms or on their back when she wanted them to. She would ride them, using her crop to direct. Occasionally, she had a bridle on them as well. She was also a foot boys dream, she required pedicures about once a week, since she had trouble reaching her feet herself she had her slave do it.
So, lets see... sounds pretty acceptable to me.

Now, I guess theres a bit of a disadvantage to someone with a kicking fetish... but aside from that I learned quite a bit about the mental aspects of control from her... and got some great ideas should I ever be into pony play.

Poetryinpain -> RE: Is this acceptable? (3/21/2008 11:34:03 AM)

I don't have it in my profile, but I am in a wheelchair. It freaks out some D-types, who apparently think they might break me, but I must say that I have found more acceptance among BDSMers than among vanilla types.

Go figure.

If you put the mental and emotional energy into being a Dominant that you put into being an independent human being, you will get the same level of results.

domahpet -> RE: Is this acceptable? (3/21/2008 11:53:46 AM)

i know quite a few people in wheelchairs, and not a one of them has any problem getting
their needs met. in fact, my 13yr is in a chair, and if she dosent get her needs met, neither will
anyone else in the house!
ive noticed that most people with the use of some body part usually wind up using their minds
more than some of the rest of us.
just sayin...
