I will say now, Im a furry. I've been part of the community a long time online, and am pretty well known in the circles I run. I don't know why but I find its more taboo then even BDSM and yet I've found some of the nicest kinkiest people anywhere from the furry commnity.

So let me start off. Im a black ram girl, known as Crown, I am better known as Skadowee from furcadia, a white lioness.

Come on people I know your out there, and no I am not a fursuiter for those who'll ask, if you don't understand what furry is, look into it, but at heart its people who love to personify thier personality and put those traits in with animal traits, usualy creating a persona or Fursona of said self.

Who here is a BDSM loving furry?

I was involved in furry fandom in the pre-Internet days, and I used to identify as furry until I got thoroughly disgusted with the way too many people in that community behaved.  If they're not doing bizzare sexual things in front of people who really don't consent to watch or participate, they're engaging in adolescent angst and drama - even when they are 40 years old, and that's not pretty.

I like the concept, I identify with it strongly, and in my own head and heart I'm a furry.  But I don't have a lot to do with the furry community any more.  There are some very good people in it, but I think they've been outnumbered in recent years by people I have no patience for.   I wish it was otherwise.

I would consider myself a furry, I'm guessing my name kinda gives away where my head lies as far as my animal is concerned :) I do also have a lovely tail (which attaches to the back of my belt) which I picked up from ebay lol.

I can't say however that I have ever been involved in a local furry community, I know of only a couple of other sort of furries in this city (one of whom is also in the bdsm community), and I suspect there arent that many of them here.

I also think that what Najakcharmer says about the furry community could also be applied to some people I have seen in the bdsm community, it is sadly human nature at times, whatever group they may be in.

Well, yes and no.  I've been actively involved in both the furry and BDSM communities, attending many events and gatherings, for a period spanning about twenty years and a fair chunk of geography in the United States.  I think I have a reasonably broad perspective on both the good and positive stuff and the fucked-up and negative stuff that goes on in both communities.  The furry community is very largely fucked up and socially dysfunctional.

I wish it wasn't true, especially since I'd qualify by most definitions as a furry myself.  But for whatever reason, the furry community attracts an extremely high proportion of individuals with extremely poor social skills and general life coping skills.  Their behavior is appalling, and since they're actually in the majority, that behavior is considered the norm and not just tolerated but encouraged.  There is a smaller contingent of mature and responsible furs who do a lot of babysitting for the non-socially-adept so that they don't create too many horrible disasters at events (eg, fursuit fucking in the hotel lobby or other public areas).  At furry events where the babysitting isn't present in force, I guarantee that there will be such disasters, and I have personally seen many of them.

It's not that *I* mind watching guys in fursuits give each other hand jobs, blow jobs or humping each other's suits.  Me likey!  But for fuck's sake, let's PLEASE not do it in the public areas of a convention hotel.  You can go do it in your room.  Heck, you can do it in MY room.  Just please get the boundaries clear between a consenting audience and freaked out Japanese businessmen walking in on a guy in a deer suit being humped by a guy in a Skiltaire suit, resulting in the loss of the convention's ability to use that hotel.

Let's also not climb up on the stuffed moose and fuck it, and take pictures to post on the event's official website, also resulting in furs being banned from renting there.  Sex in the elevator that leaves spooge on the walls is just never a good idea.   Bondage and flogging likewise, not when the elevator is being shared by people who are not part of the convention, including families and um's.

Yeah.  I could go on, and on, and on, but I think most folks get the picture.  There's been a substantial backlash in the furry community ("Burned Furs") encouraging G-rated safe spaces for people in the fandom where such behavior is not tolerated, and maybe eventually they'll get somewhere.  I didn't see too much outrageousness at FWA, and I hear the atmosphere at AnthroCon has much improved thanks to Uncle Kage and other responsible adults who can successfully ride herd on the idiots who would otherwise ruin the event.  So maybe things really are getting better.   I hope so, but at this point I'm just too busy with my life and also a bit too burned and wary from past bad experiences to be very active in the fandom any more.

Fox is a furry (he's not on this site).

His principle is Vikky Vixen (? spelling) and he runs the Black Pearl Dungeon I believe it's called where everyone is encased I believe in a futuristic type of latex in a prison where they are supposed being punished.

That's about all I now. If you've heard of him then this rings a bell, if not, well, then it does not matter.

Fox is forever moaning about the fact that there is meatlife furry community in our area but then he also never does anything to start one so when he starts to moan I tell him to shut up or do something about it. Geesh if my husband can start an area adult baby group you'd think my slave could be man enough to get a furry group started instead of just complain about the lack of it.

You're not missing much by not having a meatlife furry community locally.  The last few I got involved with, the majority of the regulars were total moochers who never contributed anything and expected/begged/whined other people to pay for their food and drink and give them rides.  As usual, there were a couple of responsible adults in the group who had jobs and cars, and everyone else (regardless of their actual age) were moocher kids.  I would love to find a furry fandom group that wasn't primarily dysfunctional, but so far no such luck.  Functional furries seem to be few and far between.  They do exist, but they seem to be rarer than hen's teeth in the fandom.

Yeah.  Not worth the headaches.  I don't know what it is about the furry community that makes for a huge proliferation of non functioning, non job having, non contributing, drama-generating whiny-ass moochers, but there it is.  If anyone can testify to the existence of a furry community that isn't like this, I'd seriously like to hear about it.

I don't really see it the same way Naja it may be just me. But on the whole I've met alot of people worth hanging around with, I wont say there's drama, but so far its been overtly roll off my back or nothing that ever bothered me since Im never getting involved. I guess I have to agree to disagree, I find more people through the BDSM relations that tend to be unable to get thier stuff togeather and on verge of childish stalkers then I ever have in furrry circles, not to say there are exceptions to that/

I find any lifestyle that groups togeather regularly and incourages fantasies of any kind be they Sci-fi, Anime, Furries, or BDSM there is always a huge chunk of bad apples. But so far most of whats been said in that concern on your opinion just seems a good way to drive people away from furry types.

I'm really glad you had better experiences than me in the furry community.  I know there are some good, mature, functional and competent people out there.  Me personally, I've been burned so many times by the furry community that I mostly don't go there any more.

There's good to be found in the furry community.  I just think you have to be careful and look harder for it, and figure out a way to let the moochers and the drama roll off your back as you put it.  If you don't, you are likely to end up paying for other people's food at the furmeet and having at least one jobless moocher crashing on your couch at all times playing with your X-Box.

I got very, very tired of always being the one everybody else looked to for giving rides, paying for other people's food and letting people stay on my couch when they got thrown out of wherever they were.   This wasn't just true for one furry group, but for all of them, across several widely separated geographical areas.   I finally got fed up and quit having anything to do with any local furs.  When I moved to North Carolina a few years ago I tried once again to make contact with local furs, only to get the exact same results I had everywhere else I've ever lived.  I was the ONLY fur in town who had a job and a vehicle, and everyone else who wanted to hang out with other furries expected me to give them rides and pay for their food.  Um, no.  Not again.  Kthnxbai, drop me a note when you grow up.

Adult furries who have jobs and cars and food of their own and no constant dramas about needing a couch to crash on, I'm very happy to hang out with and get to know.  Alas, they are few and far between.  They are probably easier to find on the Internet than in any given local area.
