I think you are very correct, MistressCara, for some people.

I don't choose a picture based on what I think a man or anyone else will think, I choose it based on whether or not it is honest about me and what I look like.

I don't care about bending anyone to my will until I know them and that won't happen (in my very strong opinion) via an online forum or a picture or an ad.

They like me as I am, cool; if not, don't care. The ones I'm interested in are unlikely to be persuaded by a picture online and far more interested in what's in my mind or how many years I've been doing this or my personal Ds philosophy or shared interests outside of kink.

I've read all the resonses up to now. This seems so unneccessarily over-thought. My take on it is wear what you like and pose however you like. If a domme wants to bow down, bend over, curtsy, or whatever, that is their perogative to do so. It may be that they like the pose, feel sexy in the position, use the position to capture a submissive's interest, are just being polite, or any number of other reasons. To me, the notion that obesiance is somehow less dominant makes about as much sense as the age old question "do dommes suck cock"? A domme does whatever she feels like. And just to keep this thought rooted in reality, it might surprise people to know that submissives do what they feel like too. Sure, a submissive may consult their dominant and follow their dominant's wishes, but a whole lot of what submissives do is whatever they want to. Gee. I've been known to pick up single-tails, floggers, canes, and all manner of hitty toys that are normally used by dominants. Does this make me dominant? Nope. But hitty toys are sure fun to play and practice with. :-)

Its amazing how much you can do online and with words/pictures etc. The mind rules the body after all. But then I guess we are back in the old r/t is better than online war lol. peace to you all.

I just laugh and roll my eyes, especially when they're in prodom mags or on a site promoting their business. I can't say it's flattering for her to be on her knees as the way she introduces herself to a male supplicant, but to each his/her own.

I think it has to do with gender (no, really!). Generally speaking, male doms project a sense of masculline strength, their posture, attire and attitude suggesting strength. Society generally associates strong males with physically large/muscular. Women (again generally speaking) are smaller and less strong, and beauty is power. They do not normally use physical strength to reinforce their dominance. Instead they use their feminity, so their pictures are meant to emphasize their feminine attributes. Plus the rules are different for women as well. For example, a dominant may wear a corset and project strong feminine power. A male dom may require his female submissive to wear a corset, emphasizing her submission. Same piece of clothing, yet it is used for two different reasons, and has two different effects.
