Hi all. I just joined last nite. I am Malia Roux on SL. Having trouble learning how to move around in game. Can anyone help?

Heyya, I sent you an IM on SL as well as a couple of links, 41 hair styles and some clothes. Feel free to IM me when you're on. As for getting around, use the arrow keys. It takes a while to get good at it. Just realize that you're going to bump into people and push them for a while while you get used to things. Just say sorry to the person you push or bump and tell them you're new. Most people understand. (And they can tell you're new by viewing your profile. It has a birthday on it for your avatar) Right click on things and see if they have an action menu. Some things you can view more information about, sit on, buy, touch or move. If you touch something that belongs to someone else, just say sorry and let them know you're learning. Most people are very tolerant of newbies and will go out of their way to help out.

I tried this game some time ago, and it seemed like a bdsm ghost town to me. I'd wander around and there'd be no one there. It felt really bizarre in that nothing was really going on.

The game doesn't go out of its way to explain how to do anything or how to find anything. I found myself wandering into random shops and thinking, where are all the people?

I finally gave up, feeling it was something that was a great concept without an actual delivery.

I feel exactly the same way, however My company is looking at it for virtual meetings so I feel obligated to get it---well if anyone is out there when I am , I am Hathor Indigo---I was really bummed, the first 5 minutes I was out there, some guy dropped his pants!!! gees---

xkittenishx -> RE: Second Life (7/31/2007 9:03:16 AM)

i go by the name Rea Flanagan in SL - Master and myself have a house set up there and spend a couple nights a week on in the evenings.  i'd be more then happy to help out with hair/clothes/shopping/showing around to anyone who needs it. :)

Lashra -> RE: Second Life (7/31/2007 10:39:14 AM)

LOL I was only on there maybe an hour when I saw a naked man walking around with the biggest cock I've ever seen. He kept walking up to the Ladies, who of course ignored him. After awhile he got the hint and took off. It was just funny and expected lol

Hiya Abby!
Funny how this world gets smaller and smaller every day.
And seeing as how the grid has had so many problems lately grr its been tough to do anything.
Would everyone one here be interested in making a group in sl so we can help people from here get accustomed to the world etc etc?

I'm Kylean Paine on SL and can usually be found in Hard Alley or Toxian City or even just strolling around catching the sights.

I am Phin Barbosa, not that it matters it crashes every time(yes every single one) I try to load it

That used to happen to me.

Try updateing your video card drivers.

SL will still crash from time to time, but that's just bugs in the system I think. If it's the video card drivers then you should have no huge problems when you try to long on.

LittleSkylark -> RE: Second Life (7/31/2007 2:19:34 PM)

I havn't been able to use SL much recently, my Master allows me to use a mac, however SL has some issues with mac right now causing it to crash every 10 mins ;p

allyC -> RE: Second Life (7/31/2007 3:00:30 PM)

Using fast reply.... My name on SL is ally Chevalier.   I own a store that sells silks, gowns, skins, and eyes over on Catalpa (Designs by ally Chevalier).  I don't spend  much time online except to work but anyone is welcome to add me and say hello :) Well wishes, Cav's ally

DaddysSweet1 -> RE: Second Life (7/31/2007 4:06:30 PM)

TY Zindy and Beach. I really appreciate it I will add you as soon as I am able to get back on. Thanks so much for the items too Beach!

BeachMystress -> RE: Second Life (8/1/2007 5:59:02 AM)

You're welcome. I have tons of stuff, so let me know if you'd like more.

I am one of those people who likes to help newbies, so I keep a bunch of stuff in folders to give away. I have more female than male stuff, but I do have a handful of stuff for the guys. Anyone who'd like hair or clothes, just let me know. (I have silks for both males and females also, so let me know if you specifically want those.)  Always happy to help out. .. BeachMystress Aabye

BeachMystress -> RE: Second Life (8/1/2007 6:16:13 AM)

Oh, by the way, there are three places that will give you very nice free hair when you are new. (That means your avatar is less than a month old.) You'll need to visit The Free Dove to get the "vouchers" that will let you get the hair. (copy this link http://slurl.com/secondlife/Gallii/122/61/33 and paste it into your chat bar on second life and press enter. This will put it in your chat history. You open the chat history by pressing the History button on the upper row of buttons. Once the history is open you can click on the link. It will open a map. Press the teleport button on the map. This will take you to The Free Dove.)

The hair is in the back corner of free Dove. There are several styles there. Get those by "buying" them for 0 lindens. (When you see a hair photo you like, right click on it. There will be a pie menu and one of the slices says buy. Click it. Before you click the buy button on the window that comes up, read the amount of money they want you to buy it for.. it should say Buy for 0 Lindens from xyz. Everything in Free Dove is free, but you should get used to reading the money amount before you click buy.) There will be three of the photos in the hair that are for "vouchers." Click them and "buy" them. Each of them has directions in them, the voucher that you fill out, and the link to the place where you pick out your hair.

Open the first of the folders that has the vouchers and teleport to the hair store. Find the hair that you like. Once you've found it, open the notecard with hair directions on it by double clicking it. Follow the directions (which are simple. Mostly they want your full name (mine would be BeachMystress Aabye), the date you joined second life (you can find it in your profile. Right click on yourself and on the first page near the top is a date,) the name of the hairstyle you want and the color hair.)  Then you follow the directions on how to send it to the person offering the hair. The hair you get this way is much nicer than the freebie hair offered most places, because it is from the store's stock. You choose exactly what YOU want.

The name of the group is "CollarMe in SL". To find it, click the search button and then the groups tab. Type in CollarMe in SL and search. When it brings up the group, click the Join button.

Feliw -> RE: Second Life (8/1/2007 7:50:53 AM)

Hello there lovely people, well i have a doubt about second life, i downloaded it and start playing, but after like 30 minutes my computer freeze and burned my power source, i want to know if that is SL fault, or was just an isolate event.

zindyslave -> RE: Second Life (8/1/2007 9:24:27 AM)

I have met some people on SL that have helped me alot. I found a place you can go get free hair and skins....I think they are awesome....but that is just me. When I meet newbies on there I try to help them as much as I can I have learned alot since joining. So, if anyone wants they can IM me and I will help as much as I can and if I can't help you I am sure I can find someone who can.
If you want to visit with my AV most likely I will be in a rp sim Tombstone...

Hiya Feli,
Burning out of a power source is most likely a hardware problem not a software one. That being said Sl uses a lot of video memory and without really looking at your PC I cant say if it was or wasn't a result of the program using that video memory and your PC not having sufficent power to run it. Since you will be in the market for a new power supply I would suggest getting one a bit more than what you had and you should be good to go.
