Just starting this as a spin off from the Virtual Life thread - Struck me how many CM users are happily wandering around in SL as well as in the real world so thought I'd start this, if you are in SL and happy for people from CM to contact you, put your name here (sl Name that is lol)

I'm Diamond Carmona

Oops sorry - Second Life - its a virtual game, the other thread is about it and lots of CM people say they use it so figured a way to contact each other in world if we so wished

You can visit their website at http://secondlife.com or go read the Wikipedia article about them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Life

It is something between a regular avatar chat program and a game.

There is a big power outtage in downtown San Francisco (the home of Second Life.) http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/07/24/BAG9NR67253.DTL&tsp=1 Hopefully they'll have things back on soon.

Lashra -> RE: Second Life (7/25/2007 11:56:22 AM)

My sub and I have been considering trying this game out. We are used to playing RPG games but this one sounds pretty different from any we have played. What is there to do for a Mistress and her sub?

zindyslave -> RE: Second Life (7/25/2007 12:08:53 PM)

When you do register where is the best place to start out in?

littlesarbonn -> RE: Second Life (7/25/2007 12:26:03 PM)

I tried this game some time ago, and it seemed like a bdsm ghost town to me. I'd wander around and there'd be no one there. It felt really bizarre in that nothing was really going on.

The game doesn't go out of its way to explain how to do anything or how to find anything. I found myself wandering into random shops and thinking, where are all the people?

I finally gave up, feeling it was something that was a great concept without an actual delivery.

earthycouple -> RE: Second Life (7/25/2007 12:27:40 PM)

Hum...I'd just be happy to find paper and pencil RPGers locally.....  anyone up for D&D in Northern IL?  Forget this online stuff *S*

xonemasterx -> RE: Second Life (7/25/2007 12:29:50 PM)

The name of the game make me think, "How can you have a second life when you do not even have a first?"

It does get a lot of press.  It is more of a roll your own environment and make of it what you will.  Unlike other MMOG's like Warcraft etc.

Not my cup of tea, though.

Basically its an online version of real life, you have your AV, dress it up, take it out, you can party, socialise and "have sex" (though that isnt something I tend to do, poseballs make me giggle) think like a chatroom in 3D - you can get a house, furnish it, get a job....my charecter works in a strip club for example and Masters is a dancer there which is an amusing turn around lol.

Everyone starts out learning the basics on and island then they get to go into world, Then it's a case of if you know people in game hook up with them and they can show you around, teach you how to do things etc or you can wander about and try to find things for yourself - if you decide to join send me a msg there and i'll happily show you around.

Stephann -> RE: Second Life (7/25/2007 12:49:52 PM)

Alright... I'll see how this works.  I just signed up, and I'm now Stephann Swindlehurst.

I'll happily show you around, it's kind of like....wandering doesnt do much - it's a bit like the real life scene over here at least - the well known "commercial" places are not much cop but the ones you find out about via those that already go are generally pretty good
