If it is part of an explanation about your colorblindness, then that is a whole different ballgame. However, as I said....when it is used to prove some non-prejudicial point or as the first descriptor used, yes it is offensive. If they are your friend, why does it matter what color their skin is? It only matters that they are your friend. If someone can't place them without the skin color being used, then of course use it.
Najackcharmer, you have already made statements to the fact that you are colorblind and that you don't see skin color. However, there are those that don't subscribe to the same thinking. They say they are not prejudice, however their actions speak louder than their words. These are the people I am referring to. Those who say they are not prejudice but the first thing that comes out of their mouths is, " That mexican...., that black...., that indian.... etc.... They say they are only using that to describe....My point is, is there nothing else about that person you can use to describe....How about their name if you know it. If you don't know their name, something else that they have done that would describe them....but to use their race initially is a form of racism....It says that is the first thing you notice about a person....And that you probably didn't notice the person at all.
