Status: offline 		For those of you who are involved in your local BDSM groups, attend functions and parties and all that....

What is the min. age requirement for your group? 18, 19 21? Older?
Is it the same for parties, and public munches, and socials?

We are going through some discussion with a local group here... and I'm looking for some outside, non heated opinion on this... just for reference point.

Status: offline 		I think the only concerns would be where the munch would be held, most that I've been to are at a bar, some have been at a bar/restaurant. Personally, I don't see any problem with the age at all though.

Status: offline 		The group I go to is 18+ for munches, parties, etc. although at 29 I'm one of the youngest there. We have one 20 year old man, but he can't come to anything we do at clubs/bars so it limits him somewhat. Personally I think this all takes a certain level of maturity that isn't seen in most people of a younger age. I prefer a group geared for 25+. But, that's just me.

No, I do not have a problem with that. It is held at a bar, and the legal age in Ontario is 19. If the DM decided that 19 was the way to go I would support Her in that.

Status: offline 		When I lived in Florida, the group closest to me was 21+, so I had to go to one farther away because it was 18+. That one met at a private home, so it was probably easier to have us younger people.

21 makes a person %100 legal to drink alcoholic beverages

If I'm hosting I'll make it 21. If I'm going, I like the garuntee that everyone is atleast 18. For looks are deciveing and I've been known to look at ID's.

Either way I like my environment to be mixed with ages where we see each other as adults.

I run a group called Paddlers in So cal. My minimum age is what the country declares minimum age and an adult. 18. We have monthly munches, discussion groups and quarterly parties. An adult is welcomed at any.

However, the age does differ by group. Just personal preferences when they originally set it up.

Status: offline 		when i was with my 1st Mistress, the local club, had a rule, you must be minimum age of 21, due to the alcohol law.

Status: offline 		Our local event, Purgatory, has an age 18 limit, but is held at a bar/club. Ages 18-20 get marked and can't drink, but everyone who chooses to can go ito the VIP room (we have some fairly restrictive laws in NC, so any BDSM activity goes on in a seperate room).

Status: offline 		Black Rose (DC) is 19 for function, 35 to be in TNG (or escorted by someone that age), BESS (Baltimore) is 18 for some functions, 21 for majority of functions, and 35 for TNG.

LOL again coming back from Leather Retreat which had open alcohol policy and a huge party on Saturday night in which there was free alcohol flowing and a LOT of great play and sex going on...that's just not true.

A couple hundred adults over a single weekend proved that, and events like this happen regularly now.

Status: offline 		In British Columbia all events seem to stick to the legal drinking age of 19 years. The only exception I know of is BIO (www.vancouverdungeon.com) which I believe allows 18 years olds.

Status: offline 		In a group that i started and moderated started out with a 21 years of age restriction but changed it to 18. i did not agree with this change however. Another group i am a member of is age 21.

i would be happy to send you a copy of the rules/guidlines for ideas if yo would like.
