My response may be atypical.

I have no interest in strap-ons and so would not be aroused. Furthermore, I would be unimpressed for sake of tasteful behavior unless, as Aidan said, it was part of a witty approach. While I don't see the matter as black and white, I would likely be unimpressed by an introductory email or profile asking for or sharing images of genitalia--that action in itself would work against the overall impression I would form--unless there is substance in the email or the profile that makes me think otherwise.

I usually back away from an aggressive approach if it makes me feel there is a significant imbalance in mutual interest. If there is an imbalance in interest, it might create a need for space. Furthermore, if a strong interest is conveyed and it is not reciprocated at a similar level, it can work against the desired power balance.
