CruelGorean -> Great Movies Of Our Time (7/30/2007 2:02:01 PM)

OK I am sitting here bored, and I would like to get into the minds of some of the folks here on the collarme.com boards, what in  your opinions are some of the best movies you have ever seen? List as many as you like. (porn dosen't count) defining our time, early 70s to present date.

Phantom of the Opera (newest).  Horridly uninspired ending, but the music's certainly something.

I just sa the movie "Artificial Intelligence" last night on tv (directed by Steven Spielberg). It came out about 4-5 years ago (I think), and even thought it never really received tons of press or got rave reviews, I always thought it was a fantastic movie.

Now are you talking like serious movies I think are awesome and should be required viewing for everyone forever more?

Or just movies I think kick ass?  Because I have some questionable taste and really like some stuff that's really trash (like Dude, Where's my Car?)

CruelGorean -> RE: Great Movies Of Our Time (7/30/2007 2:51:11 PM)

OK so here is a few more
Sin City, 300, The Shawshank Redemption, Convoy, Full Metal Jacket, Flyboys, The Bourne Identiy, Supremacy, & Ultimatem, Hitcher (original), Red Dawn, Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars- I, II, III, IV, V, VI, The Jerk, Dogma, The Green Mile & Last but not least The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe, (Both the movie & cartoon version)

Sinergy -> RE: Great Movies Of Our Time (7/30/2007 2:58:13 PM)

I would agree with most of the movies posted, but I would put Fight Club on my list, as well as the Big Lebowski.

I tend to find movies that view life from a really surreal viewpoint to be wonderful.

Alien, all of them, but especially Resurrection

I disagree, the best was Aliens.

Mostly because of Bill Paxton as the whiny Space Marine.

"Put her in charge" he whines.

fairerthanshe -> RE: Great Movies Of Our Time (7/30/2007 3:05:09 PM)

"Game over, Man! Game over!"

That has to be one of the best performances ever - and it is definitely a toss up between Aliens and Resurrection for me.  The amazing oddities brought together for the last one is superb.
