Hmmm... how do you define "forward" and "reverse." Is it based upon time? Space? Something else? Seems so limiting; evolution doesn't get very far in such a reality.

the fate of the realms isn't tied to all 3 kitlets, bear ...that burden falls on the hands of one kitlet - which one ...we will have to wait

.....yet if one views time as constantly occurring....where past, present, future are happening at the same time, then evolution would be constantly progressing.....the question that needs to be answered first....is time a linear concept?

Ah, is time linear? It is not for the continuum and those within it to answer... only you and your kind can answer. However, here is something to ponder... matter is to anti-matter as time is to ???

Not always.

Didn’t someone think up the concept of antimatter because they couldn’t justify their argument any other way?

I suppose that's true, since I don't believe there has been concrete proof that anti-matter exists (as in, being able to produce a sample of said material), to my knowledge (which, I'll admit, I've not kept up on).

Many things in life are postulated and used as support for theories that cannot be proven otherwise. This has been the course for science and mathematics since mankind has been pursuing these studies.

I was thinking of dark matter which supposedly makes up 90% of the universe. Without such matter they can’t account for the mass of the universe; the rate of expansion since the big bang.

Anti-mater on the other hand does sound fun though is Antihydrogen inert I wonder?

My understanding is that when matter and anti-matter collide, they annihilate each other. The question I have for the folks at CERN is, if they indeed were able to produce any sort of anti-matter, how did they contain it and keep it out of contact with regular matter. Even if its existence was only 40 billionths of a second old, that's still enough time to enable an annihilation, I would think.

There's also the theory that it takes an exact matter/anti-matter pairing, in every way, in order for annihilation to occur. In other words, using CERN's creation of anti-hydrogen, as long as there was no pure hydrogen in equal quantity to the amount of anti-hydrogen produced, there would be no annihilation.

I'm still waiting for someone to propose an experiment to test whether anti-time exists or not.

The last time I read anything about matter/antimatter, it sems to me that the particle of antimatter is held in a magnetic "bottle" Which technically it isn't in contact with matter whatsoever.
Anti-time, cripes, that's a concept which I'm not quite ready to wrap my brain around!

If the recently concluded The Universe mini-series on The Discovery Channel (I think it was hosted on The Discovery Channel) has stated current theories, black holes are now believed to have no "back sides," as it were. Matter enters the anomoly at the event horizion, and as it falls towards the center of the gravity well, the molecular bonds are torn apart. Once those elements reach the center, they are reformed into radiation energy which is expelled out of the black hole in a region perpendicular to the event horizon.

In other words, matter enters at the equatorial region and energy in the form of radiation is expelled at the poles.

If this actually can be proven to be true, it makes for one hell of a matter-to-energy converter; probably much more efficient than either fission or fusion reactors.

So, it appears that Star Trek tech is becoming more and more plausible, since the '60s they used magnetic containment to keep matter and anti-matter apart, and only mixed the two inside their warp core, providing the energy needed to run their starships.

As for anti-time, when I first heard about such a concept, I found it a difficult one to grasp. But the more I pondered it, the more comfortable I became with thinking that it may at least be something to explore. I have no idea how we would go about experimenting to see whether anti-time exists, but I think one would have to have use of a quantum computer in order to even run models.

Good morning Angel. Please forgive us as we discuss the nature of quantum physics and mechanics.

How are you and Ella doing?

ummmmmm nice - a discussion on time.  I like it.  I had a professor, Mmpanga, he grew up in a pastoral indigenous tribe in the Congo and was discovered to have special math abilities and was plucked form Africa and sent to Oxford to study.  Bit of a culture shock one of the biggest being the western mindset of time - the second, by second, minute by minutes clock, and the assumption that time is linear has a beginning and will eventually end was a shock to him.....He recalled that when growing up if you were to meet someone at a certain time it was always with an assumption that there would likely be a window of time rather than an exact minute etc. And the traditions and rituals were ways to insure that the mistakes of the past were not repeated and that the future was grounded in those lessons.   For instance - "I will meet you near the tall tree on the red leaf covered hill when the cattle come home at sunset." the range of time would be about 2 hours.  Interesting I thought.  He also taught us some of the songs and oral traditions that had been passed down through the generations.

So he is a well respected mathematician who is a tenured professor at Stanford and was a visiting professor for us, a sustainability program with a specific goal to show us how entrenched we are in the assumptions of our Western mindset and the pitfalls of such.  One of his most exciting theories is called "the remnants notion of time"...rather than a linear line - he proposes that time spirals around an x, y type access and each moment that time spirals and brushes up against a different era, it brings a remnant of the previous time into the present. Thus there is a fluidity between the past present and future and yet a specific time may never be repeated exactly.....fun stuff no?

That is quite an interesting concept. Man has always thought of time as a linear concept, ever sinec we began to think in a coherant fashion. Yet I don't believe that anyone has proven this to be a fact, just a concept which is fairly accepted universally.

Our Professors felt that our pinchant for linear time beliefs is born out of the story of Genesis - which is not so very sustainable really.  It was fun stuff to study!
