ORIGINAL: ocilla ... So he is a well respected mathematician who is a tenured professor at Stanford and was a visiting professor for us, a sustainability program with a specific goal to show us how entrenched we are in the assumptions of our Western mindset and the pitfalls of such. One of his most exciting theories is called "the remnants notion of time"...rather than a linear line - he proposes that time spirals around an x, y type access and each moment that time spirals and brushes up against a different era, it brings a remnant of the previous time into the present. Thus there is a fluidity between the past present and future and yet a specific time may never be repeated exactly.....fun stuff no? I love this stuff! In a way, the professor's "remnants notion of time" model is roughly (very roughly) similar to the simple wormhole theories... that if you can bend space, time, or a combination of both, so that your beginning point and destination point actually touch, you can open a doorway that allows you to step from one into the other. I'm waiting for the final results of the Gravity Probe B experiment to be published. This recently concluded experiment involved a satellite in a precision Earth orbit that was taking readings on how gravity can warp space and/or time. It's one of those experiments that few people know about, but could have extreme repercussions on whether some of Einstein's theories are valid or not. I can't wait...
