... swirling around in each new dark place as I open it up, I land upon a stairway unlike any I've seen before. At that moment, the unstable walls collapsed towards me leaving no escape but for the stairway. I hastened down the spiraling staircase, but lost grip of the laser as it fell victim to the onrushing wall of stone. Following the maze of stairs lead me to a large cavern which, once inside, became my last refuge as the stones piled upon the opening. As the last stone settled into place, an eerie but yet comforting infrared light began to glow, showing the contents of this cavern. A strange, multiphasic voice called out from the farthest reaches of the cavern...
"Welcome home. We have been expecting you..."
I turned towards the voice, and from the shadows emerged one, no two, no... many hulking figures. The closest to me grew larger as it unfolded it's wings and in that instant I instinctively recognized the form... a gargoyle! A warm, fuzzy, tingly feeling overcame my body and for the first time, I truly felt like I was home ...
