Some people like to capitalize all nouns, pronouns, and proper names of dominants, while nouns, pronouns, and proper names of submissives are all in lowercase. Ordinary English involves capitalization of proper names and the pronoun "I". When one needs to write to or of a group that involves dominants and submissives, if using "kinklish" (this goofy capitalization scheme), one occasionally refers to the group with a slash, "Greetings A/all," "W/we will leave now." The slash in d/s--I don't know why it's there, but it's different from the one above. D/s stands for "dominance/submission" or "dominant/submissive," which are two complementary, opposite activities. Two sides of a coin, if you will. The slash might exist to differentiate them from the other two sets of activities that make up BDSM: "SM," sadomasochism, a unified activity, and "B&D," bondage and discipline, two activities that can go together, but can also be independent of one another, and are neither opposing nor complementary.
