"D/s" and "M/s" refer to "Dominant/submissive" (or "Dom/sub") and "Master/slave", respectively.
Things such as "W/we" are different.
You see, some people adopt a system of capitals for Dominants and lower case for submissives. (Some subs will even use 'i' instead of 'I' when referring to themselves.)
So, if a sub were talking to a Dominant, she might say, "How are You?" The Dom would still say to her, "I'm doing well; how about you?"
If a sub is writing on a board about her weekend adventure with her Dom, she might say, "W/we had fun." She does this out a conflict. You see, "we" would refer to them both. If it were capitalized, it'd refer to them both as Dominants. If it were lowercase, it would refer to them both as submissives. So, "W/w" means that the first letter isn't either just capital or lowercase, allowing her to avoid this conflict.
Many subs have lowercase usage trumping all other grammatical rules. Such as, "i had a good day." Normally, it's 'I' instead of 'i' because "I" is just always capitalized when it's referring to oneself. Also, in this case, 'i' is the first word of a sentense, which should also be capitalized- but, still, the sub's use of this system trumps those other grammatical rules in her writing style.
