yesss, by fluke long ago I was curious and checked/clicked on a guy's forum history button oh boy..

I wasn't impressed with some anti-race remarks about his activities off-site, they were quite politically charged (aka he belonged to a group I find offensive), no names mentioned.  But, I did learn what I did faster than what might have never come up for ages in an conversations.  So, I am glad I did afterall and glad to be 'out' of that situation before anyone got attached.

WOW.  Thanks for sharing that!!!!!!!

On the other side of the coin, I will read the post history of someone here if they interest me.  It isn't just the content of their posts that I look at.  If a person has been on here for a year or two and have thousands upon thousands of posts, I do wonder when they find the time to do that.  I am not an excessively clingy person, but I don't really want to be with someone that spends all their extra time in front of a computer.  I don't automatically make that judgment call, but it does make me raise an eyebrow.

Absolutely it does.    Having said that, I admit I have said things here that I wouldn't want to have thrown at someone as a first impression, but if someone were to read my statements over time, there would some consistency in indicating what type of person I am, and a good amount of growth in the right direction (have learned more, and become less intense about unimportant BS).

So the answer is yes, the way he carries himself here will be used to evaluate the type of person he is, much in the same way a guy shouldn't spit on the floor or smack another woman before approaching me for a date.   M

Interesting you mention your own posts.  I'm ok with someone using what I write here to make a character assessment.  I own what I say here -- harsh or not so harsh.  I'm blunt.  I don't sugar coat things and I try to live with a little bit of what's called Radical Honesty -- you never have to wonder where you stand with me.  This is who I am: there's a tough outside, and a more compassionate sensitivity for those within my inner circle.  Folks who have no skin or sensibilities that might be offended -- they wouldn't ever get into the inner circle (nor would they want to be there for what they want or need from a person.)  And folks who know me in person know me to be able to come out with sarcastic sideswipes (and take a fair share) as well as hold your hand and cry with you when you need it most.  It's all in the balance, and perhaps that's what we don't see here on the boards......

I definitely look for posts.  Oddly enough, not many submissives that contact me post on this side.  However, I have made some wonderful dom (and sub also) friends from seeing their posts, and seeing something come up that I feel compelled to send them a quick note about.  I also agree that you cannot look at one post to fathom someone's personality.  There are times I am quite snarky, I will be the first to admit it.  Hopefully if you look at my earlier posts, someone would see a different person, smiles(even if snarky is definitely part of who I am, grins!!!!!)

slaveboyforyou, Why would that make you raise an eyebrow?  As you have already seen, it is very easy to make a post, and sometimes people do spend a fair amount of time making them. However that doesn't mean that they won't have time for anyone/anything else.

is anyone (sorry to hijack Mis Pandora) weary of non-posters?  I don't know why, but I know some men who read them, comment to me, yet don't post. Am I just paranoid that those are the ones who I felt were 'hiding' something, like they didn't want the other 5 submissives they were having discussions of hooking up with in the same room together?? lol, hard to explain.  NO, not everyone here is obligated to post but I prefer a post-er vs a non-poster.  Their personality is 'out there' good or bad, indifferent, they are open to discussion and seem (only to me maybe) less sneaky, less in need to hide something.  Maybe in mentioning an ex lover, a situation of a bdsm meeting, etc etc.  If I am paranoid fine..I will go back to talking to Harvey my imaginary rabbit.

For those of us who have had some fun posting in the 'polls and random stupidity' section, I can tell you that your post count can go up very quickly just by playing around a bit.  Nobody ever said all posts have to be serious.

Lady Lynx,

As I said, I don't automatically pass judgment on someone because of their posting frequency.  A lot of folks are able to use their computer at work without scrutiny.  A lot of folks work from home.  A lot of folks are insomniacs like me.  It is just one of many things I look at when I read someone's posts.  I try not to make snap judgments about people.  I try to look a person's online presentation of themselves in its entirety.  If I am curious enough about it, I will just ask.  I didn't mean to generalize, and I certainly wasn't talking about anyone here in particular.  It is just one of many observations I make when I look at someone here.

I definitely do look to see if they have posted on the boards to try to get an insight into their thoughts and feelings. Just as I would hope that they would do the same in regard to me. I continue to do so throughout the getting to know you period and beyond. Although since I'm on the boards more than anywhere else here I tend to be intrigued by someone because of something that they've posted here. I rarely look at the other side except to read mail so it would be rare for someone to catch my eye on the other side. If someone does then I definitely check to see if they've posted something on the boards.

The thoughts I've posted here are a bit of an insight to me. They show a part of who I am and what I believe in. The serious, the funny, the sarcastic and even the few rants. They are as much a confirmation of what I say in my profile as what I say person to person does. So of course I look for that same insight into another.

slaveboyforyou. It's not that difficult to get a high post count. Go into to the random stupidity and get involved in some of the games there and you can double your post count in no time. When I was in school and studying I would come home and fire up the pc. I would automatically open CM and have it run in the background. When I would need a break I would pop in for a few minutes and see what was going on and post here and there. My pre-requisite of having to critique a certain number of  films on a screen per week had the unfortunate affect of brain numbing, eye blurring insanity.  CM was that great little brain vacation for a few minutes.

Many of us have the computer on and are doing other things at the same time. Right now, I'm doing laundry, getting things ready for work, chatting with my UM and posting this. It's called multitasking and it's a wonderful thing.

I must still be in a really good head space from last night.  I'm surprised that I didn't add it on My post.   (Damn, I had a good time!)

This whole topic, actually is a part of My profile.  I very specifically state that if a person really wants to get to know ME, I'd give them the links to some of the better answers that I've given on some of the threads about My opinions on parts of the lifestyle, what I'm looking for, etc., etc.

It's like when certain subs post respectfully yours, or with respect, and the message was one of the most rude and snotty, and in my opnion UN respectful replies I've seen from someone claiming to be being respectfull lol.

i would like to take this opportunity to inform the wonderful, glorious and

my evil twin "pet rock" has been logging onto my account here and going

Yes, how people act when they feel they have anonymity is often more telling than how they act in person.

No, that's totally an appropriate hijack (crosstopic) for this one.  I guess I'm just accustomed to seeing more male lurkers within the lifestyle, so it doesn't surprise me at all.  You'll see far more male doms who'll come out to pansexual events, classes and groups "looking" than you will see male subs, at least in my neck of the woods.  I'd expect the same when it comes to their posting habits online.

That's cool.....although as I said in a previous reply to someone else, I don't have much expectation of guys to actually read these forums.  They don't seem to read profiles very well :-P

For some of us here on the forums, there's not much in terms of anonymity.  We're seen out and about at events and we're pretty known within the community.  If someone has any doubts that I'm who I am, I welcome them to come along for the ride LOL

To further this point...I have found that when I have a slave in my life I post here less frequently.  I bet the bank that if I were single I'd be posting here more.  I typically have CM up and browse back and forth while I'm working on homework so...it appears I am here most of the day while in fact I am doing a PowerPoint, chasing UMs, bathing the dog or making dinner and my posts come between those things.

I post frequently, silly stuff and serious stuff.  I have 2 UMs that I care for very well, a husband who isn't ignored, I am working on my MBA and just this last week took on a part time job.  I have never had too little time for my slave (or other people I love) because I know what is important to me and how to prioritize.

While I think taking posts into consideration, I don't believe how frequent a poster is terribly relevant.

Some people just prefer to lurk. They might be more introverted or shy, or  feel that they don't have anything to add that hasn't already been said.

That's usually my reason for not posting, when I go that route. Diff strokes. :)

Agreed...!  Some of us also have very little RT experience so we really can't ad a whole lot to a conversation just because we really don't know alot? We lurk and learn....lol

Not only do posts on here have an effect on how I think of someone, but I have recognized people from other places - literotica.com and the old yahoo chats ... and if I remember them being unpleasant, rude, repeatedly negative, or just otherwise problematic for us, then they are told "thanks but no thanks" and I move on.
