Ladies,
Does how a fellow carries himself here in the forums (or on the boards of other sites) have any bearing on your consideration of him if he were to approach you with personal interest?

Absolutely.

Similar to his behavior at munches or workshops would impact me.

In fact, just posting in the forums, even if he's a total jerk, creates a more positive image in my mind than someone who never posts. It would be a very very very very slight positive but still someone who is willing and able to be a bit out is a huge plus in my world.

Similarly someone who won't meet me at a munch or a workshop is automatically out of the running in meatlife.

I'm out, I can't have people in my family who aren't comfortable being seen in public or talking in public.

No wonder they all love me...

Interesting -- 100% respond yes it's a factor.

MySweetSubmssive -> RE: Posting history (8/5/2007 9:36:36 PM)

I would be curious to know what percentage of people on CM post on the boards. Five percent?  One?  There are very few people local to me who post on the boards.  Lordandmaster is one, but for obvious reasons (I'm allergic to elephants), I've never pursued him.

Now I make friends through the boards, but those people tend to be from such far-flung places that we will most likely remain friends and not more.

I'm in a similar position.  While I'd be ok with pulling back the reins on the wagon a wee bit, I've found enjoyment in going to scene events and would want to continue doing that with a new prospect.  I don't expect him to go sharing with his boss that he's his GF/wife's slave et al (like my ex did....the doofus) but.....I have similar expectations as far as the willingness to meet me in certain realms goes.

Yes, how people act when they feel they have anonymity is often more telling than how they act in person.

One of the very interesting phenomenon of these cyber forums is that the first impression you get of people is often from the form and content of their postings.

People like to say that love is blind, and that they are more attracted to a person's intelligence, character, humor, etc., than to the person's physical features. On the boards, that very well may hold true, because you get to "know" someone from their posts-- generally speaking-- long before you have an in-person interaction.

On the topic of the op, yes it does matter. I have at times gone to the other side and made a note in their profile.  I normally only do that when they have done something negative.

Now on the subject of not posting, well it doesn’t seem to be a lot of people on the CM that post over here. I don’t look at as a negative, since they might not know about it. Or they could be shy or not have a lot to add. Which I find myself doing on occasion.

Absolutely!  I started flirting with Michael because of the way he carries himself here in the forums.  5 months later we could star in a sappy (albeit kinky!) chick flick!

I'd go see that one in the theatre..

You know, that's not a bad idea..  I wonder what the title of the movie would be?  Hmmmm...

instynctive -> RE: Posting history (8/8/2007 9:03:46 AM)

Ummm...

"Season's Beatings"
"When Michael Beat Lisa"
"50 Flogging Dates"
"Whip It"
"Desperately Beating Lisa"
"The Truth About Whips and Chains"
"Pretty Tied Up Woman"

Just some ideas...

SimplyMichael -> RE: Posting history (8/8/2007 10:07:17 AM)

Actually one of the first things I would do after getting an "interesting" email was to check and see if / what he posted on the forums. If he posted at all he got points in my book. It is great to be able to read about someone, other than the well thoughtout (ok,I know I am reaching here hahaha) email he sent me.

It also helps me to see what we might have in common.Ego strokes are nice,if they are sincere.

I also advise my friends to read up on forum posts to help "find" someone too.

I am lucky to have found rook. As most of the women here know it is not at all easy!
