As a child, I played ‘house’, as many children do…pretty normal stuff, except for the fact that I was never the mother, nor the father; not the kid, or the babysitter; not the friend or neighbor. I was always the dog. This is a little embarrassing to admit, I might add. I have only talked with one other person in all my life who did this too…and that person was online. I have no idea how common, or uncommon for that matter, it is for a kid to have always played the pet. I think what I enjoyed about being the dog was that I got petted, and I didn’t have to do much to get that. I come from a fairly psychotic family (as many people do…it was not all bad); perhaps what I was after was ‘unconditional’ love. As the ‘family dog’…I had no responsibilities, didn’t have to say or do anything and yet got cared for and received lots of attention. This was something quite different from the ‘real world’ where I was the oldest kid and the only girl…and generally responsible for three younger brothers in an alcoholic home. The odd thing is, I am not really so much into ‘pet play’ now that I am an adult. Perhaps I got things sorted out. Anyway, now ya’ll know more about me than perhaps you cared to! LOL I have watched Puppy Play at some of the bigger BDSM gatherings. It’s fun to watch. Ever see the 3-person play where a couple and their ‘dog’ (for whom the play is named) interact? I saw a Denver troupe who did it…the actress was sooooooo good at capturing exactly what is a dog! At any rate, it was fascinating to watch the (mostly) boys with bound hands play fetch on hands & knees and sniff the butts of other pups. LOL beverly
