I'd be interested to know as well.

I also found this site: http://www.medicalproductsonline.org/electrotherapy2.html?gclid=CPmG__TptI0CFR8TOAodNjuy9w

I do know this.. the contact pads get really expensive... try to befriend someone on your local EMS squad and have them get you 12-lead pads. :-)

I know someone who bought a tens unit at Costco a while back.

On the plus side of that (or any other "el cheap-o" toy) is that it's a throw-away.. it breaks, you throw it away and buy a new one. lol

I have 2 or 3 tens units and looked at that ad. It seems like a decent deal. . But the mention of the pads ,, is sooo true. If you only used pads, the costs add up. Even the ones that say can be reused a few times are a joke. You can use bandage tape to hold them on after the body oils destroy the adhesive on them.

Tens attachments for bdsm are costly, but over time pay forthem selves over pads. Since that unit uses standard pin connectors for the pads, you can easily buy adapters for other bdsm toys. So you aren't limited to the pads only.
So for that price, and it is dual channel out, it wouldn't be wasting money.

The unit looks, from the link, just like the one I had for TMJ.  It appears "typical".  Someone else said it...the pads and attachements are expensive, but the "deal" on the machine in the link is good.  I would buy medical tape for the pads as they begin to wear.

Good Luck.

For a basic, 2 channel TENS, that's a pretty good deal.  As others have said, it's the consumables that are going to cost you.  I've gotten good deals from Austin Medical Supply for adhesive electrodes and there are also a couple of eBay sellers who have excellent prices as well.

Have fun!

A while ago I saw some weird tens units (at extreme restraints or some similar site) for sale and upon investigating further found they were really machines for accupuncture.  They had a lot of channels/features and if you got them from an accupuncture website quite cheap.  I ended up not getting one though so I can't vouch for how good they are.

I bought a few of those cheap "Tens Units" when I first got hooked on e-stim. I then got a real high quality one from a domme I know, used, for 100 dollars . I then transitioned to a ET 302R for around $350. If you are serious about e-stim, and your mistress is also. skip the Tens both professional and not and go to the ET302R or new model ET301R. They are both remote controlled, range about 100 ft, lots of possibilities WEG, get a couple of blue bands, both the unit and the bands will last a long time and you are set for a good while. You will save money in the long run and boy will you have fun.

How will they know they're serious about e-stim if they don't first play with one?

I am already a member of SmartStim.com. Good site for e-stimmers. Surprised more people on this forum don't know about it.

Hi, I'm in Europe and was looking for a cheapo dual-use ( TENs and EMS ) which could be mailed from England.

I've found the Ultima EMS at the following link ( http://www.tens.co.uk/acatalog/TeNS_UK___EMS_Muscle_Stimulation__Health___Fitness.html ) to look reasonable BUT two things:

1. I might be missing something ( it seems to have enough variability to be used for play etc ) and

2. I have access to normal 12 lead pads but I'm not sure if this unit is compatible with these 12 lead pads and, as we all know, pad cost often adds up.

Any input would be appreciated.

Tens units are in most cases versitle, one thing to look for is a way to adjust power output (also known as intensity), pulse rate and width. They are also called by different terms based on the manufacturer.
Also not sure if the mention of use for both tens and ems, since a tens is really for muscle and nerve stimulation. (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator), they are one in the same.
Now as to the pads, i am not sure what it meant by 12 lead pads, but it sounds more like those used by ekgs or something. i doubt those would work

Even if the first set of regular pads get too old to use medical (bandagetape) to hold one, you can cheaply make your own attachments. As long as you use common sense.
As long as there is no way the 2 leads can come in touch with each other, your creativity is the only bounds. (if the 2 leads touch each other, it might damage the unit). But anyhow. you can make attachments out of copper , even regular metal aligator clips.
All you need is a soldering iron and some wire and the connectors which are usually avaiable at an eletronics store .
some thigns i have made

http://www.slavechris.com/CopperCB/CopperCB.html

or this coper tube , which is a wall stub used in plumbing, attach one electrode wire t it before insertion and the other lead with a clip to the skin nearby
