Okay, file this under "silly question" - But - I just read someone's nic - and it's "person". I think that is just about perfect - I'd steal it, if it wasn't already taken - I think it's such a great CM nic.

I guess I like SusanofO, and since many here have grown to associate me with that nic, I'm not changing it - but after 4 years, I've kind of got the urge to at least think about what I'd call myself, if it wasn't that.

* I just love that nic "person" - what a genius this person is. It says it all: Treat me like a person. I am not your "3-holed sub". I am not your plastic-Goddess-Domme (or Dom) fantasy. I am a - well, I am a person. *Kudos to whoever that is (I should have read their profile, but didn't - yet. I don't even know if they are male or female).

Anyway, I am not changing my nic - at this point it would just be too confusing. BUT, if I was going to change my nic at this point -I might call myself:

-Rosebud

-Tallulah

-Wendy

-Makemespankyou

-Shutup!Uknowyouloveme

-Jaguargirl

-Billie

-Feedmybrain

-Wannadance?

-Burninglove

And - I am feeling creative, and could go on - but instead, want to ask -

IF you were to change your CM nic, what would you call yourself?

P.S. - I am not advocating anyone(or everyone) change their CM nic. It would be really confusing if that happened, I think. I am just wondering if anyone else has had the urge, ever.

Thanks for any replies

- Susan

I dig your name SusanofO

I have seen some on forums that post 'formerly so-n-so', and that sounds fair to those that knew so-n-so before the change.

but, pleassssssse don't change yours, it rocks.

I've always related to my nic here.  Wouldn't change it.  Aileen is my alter ego and I really like her.
I use another name on photo websites that accurately represents how I see myself in those portions of my life.
I wouldn't think of linking that name with any of this since it involves my vanilla side and will most likely be used for future business ventures in the works.
And then there's my real name.  I think having three aspects to me is more than enough.

I appreciate the replies.

Thanks came4u, I appreciate that. I am not gonna change it, I guess I just got a little bored, and fantasized about it. I think it's become a part of me at this point. I almost consider it an alter-ago, like Aileen said.

I am wondering who thinks about it. And if people have other favorite names for themselves. And what they'd call themselves if they ever changed their CM nic.

bitch is probably taken (but I'll bet it's a popular choice around here - maybe especially w/Dommes.I think it would absolutely rock, as far as being a nic associated with a femsub. Maybe using it would mean a femsub would get less "Kneel to me" kinds of presumptious e-mails that way, right off the bat, from idiotic, and-or less-than-enlightened male Doms).

....
cyntilating applied to me a couple months ago, when I signed on...well the " Cyn" part still feels right anyway ( my name ) ..
was certainly setting off sparks (scintillating) .

what would I choose now?
hmmm not sure...
after this last week, probably something like >
  "sittinGingerly"

grinz...

always look forward to reading your posts Susan

Cyntilating: Thanks. sittin'Gingerly! That's pretty funny, too!

I appreciate the reply. I guess I am just viewing this as a creative exercise, and wondering what people would change their nics to instead, if they changed them (I am not advocating anyone do it, particularly. I think that would be way too confusing).

came4u: A friend here told me once that if I wanted to cut my CM incoming mail down, I should just say I am a Switch (vs. a submissive, which is what I originally started out as, and labelled myself as, for 3 years). I actually did graduallly decide I am a Switch (and I really am one) but he was right - when I did finally do that this year - it cut my CM mail by at least 70%. Amazing.

camille65: I know when people have done it, some have explained it in the forums here - but if you miss the day someone explains they are changingt their nic, it could be very confusing. I know SimplyMichael did it, too. I am not gonna change mine - - just wondering who has, and even if not, what they'd call themselves if they changed it.

I got caught out when I first joined CM.  At bondage.com, you can change your nic at will without it affecting your personal account.  But I grew tired of bon.com when they changed the in-house email rules at about the same time I found CM.

I've always been 'Focus' but it was taken here, so I just whacked my then age on the end until I thought up a better name.  After about a hundred Forum posts I revisited my nic, only to discover you can't change it at CM; you can only open a new account.  Since I don't post that much yet generally put a bit of effort and content into them, I decided I wasn't going back to square one and have just settled with 'Focus50' since.  It's worked out anyway - I've never come across the original 'Focus' and most who know me use the shortened version anyway; even the one's abusing me.... lol

A change is a as good as a holiday, the saying goes....  But I'm reluctant to change my actual identity for the sake of change.

Focus.

I did change mine a couple of months after joining. When I joined I didn't know who I was in this world. ... So I was just a "newsubseeking."  After a couple of months, I felt that that nic no longer represented me.  I thought long and hard about the new one. I wanted something that I could use online and in real life. "his songstress" suits me very well. I am a singer, I am female, I am straight, I will always belong to another...even if I don't happen to know who that "another" is at any given time. And it shortens to "song" so nicely... and creates a whole other set of meanings. (I like multifaceted things....like me.)

best!

Focus50: Well, that settles that. Come to think of it, when I re-opened my account a few weeks ago, my old avatar popped up, when I hadn't re-chosen it. I found that curious - maybe that should have given me a clue you can't change your nic, either.

I know Ex-Steel changed his (or maybe he just signed off, and re-opened his account for some reason) and now he calls himself Ex-SteelAgain, to avoid confusion I guess (I always liked his nic anyway, and am glad he didn't change it - but of course that's up to him). I am not sure how that happened - but it was a long time ago, when it did (like a few years back, if I remember right). I am not gonna change mine - I guess I am just slightly bored with it, after 4 years - but it will stay the same.

HisSongstress: I remember the nic newsubseeking (although I didn't know that was you). Thanks for the reply. It makes sense to have a multi-use (or flexible) nic. And it's creative.

If you do, I suggest to both you and Focus you keep the orig. as deactivated (before someone else takes it) and continue on with your new one I guess.  Inform those that know you too though.

But, no, I won't change my name or my (sub) status just to avoid mails when I can just turn them off.  (well, they go to bulk, no way of turning them off).

edit: aaaand, if I did, I would have to listen to the same BS from the same people that think I am a new person? hell no lol.

came4u: Good advice. Thanks. I'm not gonna change mine - I am just bored with it temporarily, and am fantasizing. It's too messy and too much trouble to change. Too many people know me by this nic, but mostly, it doesn't bother me enough to change it, really (but I do appreciate knowing about what you said).

I am wondering if other people ever think about changing theirs.

came4u: No - no, really. De-activating your account migth be the reason Focus50 couldn't change his nic - that's good to know, and if I am gonna change it, that would be crucial to getting it done efficiently. Plus, there are peope who may want to change theirs, and they need to know that stuff (and they might be reading this thread). It is good information and I appreciate knowing it, and you just making it available to other folks, too.

InnocentYoungSub: Well, "innocence" is a relative term. The truly "innocent" do not frequent CM at all, as a rule, I'd think, hehe. But - I'll hand to it to you as far as having a descriptor in there...(and I am only teasing you).

seeksfemslave: Well, it is descriptive, as far as stating what you are looking for. And that is good marketing, as far as I am concerned. I can appreciate you not going with "YourDomlyGod", or something like that (also descriptive, but highly arrogant, IMO).
