yeah well, some of us haven't got access to either! i don't think i want to know whether his are better. my brother delights in buying the things, then letting me hear the crinkle as he opens them, and then eats them and tells me how DELICIOUS they are!

no, that means no commercials, no endless repetition of 'santa' songs, no shameless hustling for the almighty buck. that doesn't mean that gifts aren't allowed. even the maji had gifts for the Christ baby, i listen to christmas (as opposed to santa) carols and bake goodies for my family and friends, i invest affection and love in what i make or get them. i put up my tree so i remember the times i spent with my kids getting meaningful little ornaments, i untangle lights every fricken year so i can whinge about them having kinky sex and tangling up every year and squick my kids out because it's a tradition.

if christmas for others is about lights and presents and trees and spending money, then by all means cancel it. mine is about tradition and remembering and the birth of the Christ baby.

101 days left. that's just over 3 months. got your pressies? looking forward to snow yet?

this year i'm thinking prawns for christmas eve, and maybe a pre-cooked roast (lamb or pork) heated up, cold salads, and a rasberry trifle for dessert. maybe even an evening at the beach....

No pressies yet... I won't think about them until Dec 23 or 24.

Snow... I'm always hopeful for snow anytime of the year; a futility given my current location.

Holiday dinner, cookies, and such... everyone knows better than to try to eat anything I try to make; something about not wanting to be ill during the holidays.

I do make one thing that everyone seemed to like... well, used to make since it's not really a Holiday only thing but more of a winter resort thing... a hot buttered rum beverage. To get the whole feel for the drink, though, it needs to be consumed in one of two places: either in front of a roaring lodge fireplace fire, or in an outdoor hot tub while the snow falls about.
